Well, it finally happened to me. Mounting a different scope on my AI, and cracked the mounting bar...........from what I have read, this has been a problem for a while. I've got an email out to Mile High...........so we'll see how that works out.........

Who is making a good mount now..........looking for suggestions ............Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the Area419, ARC M brace, MDT and MPA mounts. All work great. The Seekins is another I want to try as I know they make a quality product having used their rings since 2005.

MH will take care of you. It certainly doesn’t build any confidence. I also cracked a bar as well. Well under torque spec when it cracked. Mine was the updated thicker bar as well

I’ve got an MDT 1 piece, but I have a Vortex Impact 4000 to mount. I’m thinking the ARC M brace is a better option?

Yeah if mounting on the diving board the ARC or Area419 would be my choices. The ARC LRF mount is actually mounted to the body of the mount and on the Area419 they have a raised part that slips into the diving board for extra hold and strength. Also their ring tops have a pin that holds them in place so extra strength there too.

    ETA a video for @Emerson0311

There’s this one from GDI that Frank and SH input has helped design:

Check out Griffin Armament SPRM (lol) or the newly named GRM.

I just bought one because I needed a spuhr-like mount, but no way I would pay spuhr prices. Got the GRM for under $200 and, at least preliminarily, I can't see how a Spuhr would be better.

I am not a fan of one piece mounts for full size scopes on bolt guns but... Gray Ops CNC makes a really solid version in different sizes along with a diving board option.

I have work rifles in circulation with them.
They aren't being treated softly and are performing really well.

Do you have a picture of the broken bar? Not trying to seek proof, just want to see the stress point

    This is where mine broke.

SPUHR needs to make the clamping bar out of steel IMO.

Edit: I wanted to add I used a Seekonk torque wrench set at precisely 45" pounds, followed the numbered sequence on the screws never saw recoil above a 308 on a bolt action.

I used to think SPUHR was second to none for one piece mounts now for one piece mounts I use ADM.

Same for mine. Was a wheeler FAT wrench. Wasn’t even up to 45 inch lbs yet when mine went

I ordered one of these when I couldn't find anything else in stock. I also own a Spuhr, so I'm not just cheaping out. These things are built like tanks. I liked the first one so much that I now own another.

Damn disappointing. I finally bought a Spuhr after years of wanting one. I really like the visibility of the turrets. Seeing this crap is disheartening for the kind of money they cost. Also the level is not correct. Why bother if you are not going to do it right.

I’ve had it happen three times. I switch to 40 in-lbs (Fix-it sticks). One time it happened back to back and Spuhr basically told me to buy a new scope mount (as in new model).

I'm sure there's lots of these in service not cracking, but it's pretty amazing considering while I'm sure it's happened, I've never really heard of other mounts failing like this, and we're STILL hearing about Sphur's failing in this manner and for awhile it was reported quite frequently. It does seem like a steel cross bar would likely solve this. The mounts are already heavy and be putting on 20lb rigs, pretty sure no one would notice another once or two if it kept them from failing.

I love that Sphur's response was to buy their new updated mount, reminds me recently when Beretta USA acknowledged the fact that Sako s20's had a defective run of mags, and they had updated mags in stock. However, they would not replace them under warranty, but instead offered me a 10% coupon to replace mine at full MSRP in their store at my cost.

I bought a couple some time back because they were direct mount on my AI-AT and TRG, but I would not buy another mount from them today. Too many other great options that you never hear about failing at lower cost.

    Don’t buy that junk
NF or ZCO make quality mounts.

Have the greyops. Downside is lack of accessories. Ie the 419 pic rail top cap for a red dot is nice

Area419 one piece mount get the good to go from the HIDE?

Currently using a badger max it’s good but looking for something else.
