I've seen the same exact scenario and also only once.
I used to like watching a heavy rain come in across the gulf. It was a clear demarcation moving right across the water.
We just experienced this a week ago in Idaho…Spirit Lake. Raining on one side of the truck and dry on the other.

Worked offshore years ago in the Gulf. You could clearly see the storms coming. And you knew all the accompanying lightning was going to hit our platform. That was a real pucker factor. No desire to repeat.
