So I won an auction from a seller with no feedback. Sent him an email requesting shipping prices for overnight and priority. Here are the email responses I received and they got my scam meter redlined. I sent them to GB customer support and they responded with nothing suspicious. What’s the consensus?

What is the item being shipped, and what are its dimensions and weight? That's usually what dictates shipping cost. If it's a small box of ammo or a single empty magazine, then yeah, that's excessive shipping. If it's a Ruger PRS rifle or Mossberg 940 JM Pro, those costs might be appropriate.

And what was the price of the original item?

???

Been there done that...scammed out of 2K. My fault, I should have been MUCH more attentive to what I was doing....had the red mist on a P7M13 :).

That said, be aware, gun broker may or may not try to help. In my case...they didn't do anything and I actually saw the scammer back on with same item about a week later and they couldn't be bothered with it.

You'd be nuts to send that guy any money...Worst case, he leaves neg feedback and I think GB allows you to reply where the reply is visible.

That said, why are you buying stuff from sellers with no feedback?

I see that all the time on here and elsewhere and folks wonder why they get separated from their money...

And if you really want to check him out, ask for a phone call.

It’ll never happen but when he calls you “dearest” that jus seals it. lol

Yup, those responses are written in "ShitBag Nigerian Pig-English". I can sniff those fuckers out a mile away. Rifle does not exist. Period.
I copied this from his auction:
"For your own reflection this is a Sako arms Forester chambered in .243 Winchester. This particular gun is in great shape keep’s 99 percentage of its actual bluing and generous a bright and bright bore. There are no facilities for sights and the grooved receiver is fitted with a set of Redfield style mounts."
ROFLMFAO.

I am not at all happy with the way sales are made these days on gunbroker.

This past spring, I sold a rifle, seller did not pay (we even exchanged phone calls, I talked with his boss who was the FFL) and nothing. Spent a month fooling with the attempted sale after the successful bid was made.

Gunbroker charged me for the sale and it took moving heaven and earth to get them to reimburse the sales tax they charged me for the sale. To get that back I had to relist the rifle so , to avoid any further muck ups, I priced it beyond a reasonable value. (Added a few more items to make it sound kinda legit)

My thoughts, forget online sales or purchases of firearms. If I sell it, it’s either gonna be face to face with a citizen of the state I live in or it’s going on consignment at a trusted local gun shop. I suspect, I am pretty much through purchasing firearms. (Unless I convince Brenda to get a nice PRS style rimfire rifle.)

Yup that’s the plan. I’ve bought from sellers with no feedback before and they go above and beyond to make things right. Thought I’d give this one a try but not gonna happen.

Yeah... I've bought guns off Gunbroker where there weren't even any photos of the gun! (the early days) And got a great deal because I was willing to gamble. These days, no chance, I don't gamble, if it's an NR seller I just keep going.

"Eiffel" could just be a voice to text error. But what does "please accept the bid" mean?

Exactly. I won the auction that means I accepted the bid. What I like most about this deal is total lack of support from GB. No nothing looks suspicious… seriously? I sent them copies of the email from the seller. What I got in return.
