Hello!

I'm on this place for your advice for one budget rifle scope that I can use on my CZ457 Varmint and also for an affordable backup scope.

I have an idea to buy a scope with a medium range magnification , 24 or 40max, and first focal plane reticle.
Tactical (Christmass tree) reticle in MIL(MRAD) , illuminated center cros/dot.
A large amount of elevation regulation, minimum 23MIL(about 80MOA).

I make an look to Discovery Optics, Vector and Arken.

Can you tell me your advice?

Thanks!

I have an Arken EP5 on my B14R. Have been pleased so far

@hafejd30 , @eagle0199 :

Arken are the max of my budget, myne are a simple CZ457 Varmint, no match for me, I think to shoot about 200 or 300m but i do that this distances are about the limit for me, not for the 457...

The scope that I looked are:

Vector Orion Pro Max 6-24X50 FFP HD Riflescope
Item No :SCFF-44

Discoveryopt HD GEN II 5-30X56SFIR,SLT FFP IR-MIL ZEROSTOP

Arken SH-4J 6-24X50 FFP Illuminated VHR/VPR - ZERO Stop - 34mm Tube

Arken EPL-4 6-24X50 FFP Illuminated VHR/VPR - ZERO Stop - 30mm Tube

Vortex on Italy are most expensive that this other brand/models...
But if I thnk Vortex I think Venom...

p.s.: of the Orion Pro Max are one version (SCOL-63 that have 23MIL of elevation)

Regards

Have you looked at the Bushnell Match Pro?

I have one on a Tikka T1 for NRL 22 and so far I like it.

Hello, yes but are out the budget.

I'm not competitive shooter, giust for club game...

Off topic a little…. How are y’all getting verified on expert voice?
First qualified based on military service and completing several marksmanship schools. First purchase was a Vortex scope at 40% off. Qualified again when I became a state Hunters Education instructor. Lots of ways to qualify, just see the link below and scroll down.

The Bushnell is $399 and cheaper than the Arken scopes you posted.

Based on your previous post about 200-300 m, what target sizes are you going to be shooting at?
I am starting to think you may not need something in the 6-24 range but more in the 3-15 or 3-18 range.

Paper target and metal also, size about 30x30cm.

Why not 6-24?

This. You do not need that much power at 300m.

There are quite a few reviews here

and the amazon price for this dropped to 350 now already
I think this is much more proven than the HD5-30.
Have both HD5-30 and ED5-25. Ask me anything

Hello @Link LQ Chen ,
taking advantage of the discounts on Aliexpress last week and having found fast shipping from an EU country, I purchased the HD 4-24x50 SFIR model.
This for my CZ 457 Varmint and as a backup scope.
The amount paid is around €270, I hope I made a good purchase compared to the Vector Orion Pro Max 6-24x50 FFP which cost around €60 less.

For Budget 22 LR scope I always recommend the Athlon MIDAS TAC HD 4-16×44 APRS2 FFP MIL. 30 mils elevation, only 24 oz and under $550. bucks makes it a winner. Side focus down to 10 yds. (if you qualify for a military discount this one is only $393.)

But it's not illuminated nor does it have an X-Tree reticle, which are two of your needs.

Next up is the Athlon HELOS BTR GEN2 4-20×50 APRS6 FFP IR MIL. Also side focus down to 10 yds. This one I thinks checks all your boxes (except it's only 20x). For just under $600. (if you qualify for a military discount this one is only $423.)

Athlon Midas TAC 4-16x44mm DD SF 30mm APRS2 FFP MIL Riflescope 213070

Athlon Helos BTR GEN2 4-20x50mm APRS6 FFP IR MIL Riflescope 214109

Hello, the scope are already to test a the range.

But the reticle are mutch better than the photos on the seller page.
Clear, fine and readable.
Are not a FCH but less coarse than the MOA2 of myne Sightron...

One bad feature on this exemplar are the elevation turret that are non perpendicullary a the Dial, the cap screws don't fit proprly on the turret, but the elevation work good.

Eyebox are short, but the image are simple to acquire.

Good deal for the price, 268€ on the special offer.

Oh, nice. It looks to me like there is nothing problematic other than the shorter eye relief. I am glad you liked it so far. I was thinking of getting the 5-30 and if you have any updates. Feel free to update here. I really appreciate it.

If you can, try to go directly to the ED 5-40x56 model, in my opinion it has everything needed to be an excellent alternative to the equivalent Arken and Vortex Venom...
But my opinion is like that of a kid the first week of falling in love...

I just found out that 5-40 scope after you told me. Isnt 40 x too much for a new company like discovery? I saw good things about the ED 5-25 and 5-30 but no reviews on the 5-40 yet.

I certainly don't have the experience to give an opinion on the company's capabilities, but if these are the premises they shouldn't be underestimated...
There are some reviews on YouTube on the 5-40 of Asian PCP guys, I think they are reliable.
I saw, on the range, a 5-30 on a Winchester Wildcat a few hours after I ordered my 4-24.
I resisted looking inside and I did well not to have ruined the surprise...

Haha I see, best of luck to you and I hope that scope holds up well in the long term!
