Getting ready to build my semi-auto .308. Will be using it for civilian sniper competitions. I’m trying to get opinions on what the most customizable “ar10”’s are, other than Aero Precision. Feel like I’m seeing the same 3 rifles (Aero, Ruger, DPMS) thanks for the help!

LMT, KAC, DD, LWRCI, and Seekins Precision all make AR-10 pattern rifles of some variety, and you can customize any of them any way you want. For better or worse.

One recommendation, especially if you have not put together a large frame gas gun before, is buy what you want from a reputable builder, and then aside from changing the stock or grip, leave it alone, at least if reliability is a primary goal.

Ok. My local FFL guys are extremely knowledgeable and I know I can always go to them. However, I just wanted more views outside the normal 3 guys

Don't mix manufacturers between the upper and lower unless someone has tried and verified that the combination works. Sometimes it's just cosmetic, but other times the differences can affect function. Certain parts, like bolt catches and pivot/takedown pins, won't be universal to all manufacturers.
Be aware of the difference of an ArmaLite spec and a DPMS/SR25 spec, which mostly have to to with the bolt, barrel and barrel nut/handguard.
There are different handguard heights, and the action/recoil system is different that an AR-15.

Here's a parts compatibility chart. Gen I is a large frame (LFAR) and the most common. Gen II is a small frame, Those, like the Ruger's version, the SFAR, have the most proprietary parts. There are exceptions and errors on this list.

when the guys you're talking to say "DPMS", are they referring to DPMS-pattern, or the PSA parent-company-owned (JJE?) reborn DPMS Panther Arms? you might be getting confused between the two. Yes, you want DPMS pattern. Also referred to as LR-308 compatible.

never heard of Ruger AR-10 being a choice for a builders' platform-of-choice of maximum compatibility, but then I don't get around that much.

Yes DPMS in regards to the panther arms

i'm thinking that the reborn DPMS AR-10 might be a rebadged PSA AR-10, pros and cons.
It is. If it was made since 2021 or the roll mark on the lower says "West Columbia SC", it is 100% cross-compatible with the PSA PA-10, which as you know, doesn't always play well when mixing uppers/lowers/handguards from other manufacturers.
