When I shoot a scoped rifle off the bench, I "look" thru the upper left corner of my right lens, which doesn't have much or good correction of my astigmatism.

If I have a single vision lens made, which part of the prescription should I use? Distance? Reading? In between?
Optometrists haven't been much help.

Thanks.

I usually wear contacts when in shoot, my contacts are for distance correction. No issues with being able to focus on the reticle or target. If I do where glasses, I wear the ones for distance only and leave any progressive or near correction stuff in the case.

I recently had my first set of reading glasses made. While they do make things at reading distance crisper, everything outside of reading distance is worse- enough so that I can’t imagine shooting while wearing them. Oddly, while they are supposed to correct for my astigmatism, a red dot looks worse while wearing them. IDK.

For an etched reticle scope, I wouldn’t worry at all about astigmatism correction.

I have an astigmatism That’s why I use the distance correction. Makes everything crisp again. Now red dots are a challenge until u adjust because it’s hard to focus close with the distance correction but can easily be overcome with practice. The key here also is that your prescription isn’t too strong. The further you stray from 20/20 the harder it is
