I was notified that I’m up to send in my son and my barreled actions for testing. My question is for those who sent theirs in, did you ship in a cardboard box or a hard case. If in a hard case, did you just tape the latches and add a zip tie through the locking hole? I am aware that my FFL will be the one who actually ships, but he will prepare however I ask.

These are the BA. Both RimX. One is 24”, 1.20 built by Desert Precision. The other is 24” 1.25 built by Modacam. Both with BnA Tac Sport X Pro triggers.

I've never shipped a rimfire gun to Lapua but I've shipped lots of long guns. I NEVER want it to look like a gun case.

So, I'm with @xxerexx ...in a case (taped, zipped, whatever makes you happy) then in a cardboard box so it doesn't look like a gun case.

    Cheers

That’s what I was thinking. I was afraid a gun case would attract thieving eyes

Absolutely and I don't care what common carrier you use to ship, they all have thieves on the payroll.

I've used those Plano's cheapest plastic gun cases and similar (cheaper the better, right?) with egg crate foam interiors (Personally, I wouldn't put both BAs in the same case...maybe if you really wrapped them up in towels or similar...but I wouldn't. The carries bounce packages around like they are a basketball.

Then often I need to take a big box (think from moving company/U-Haul) and cut it down and tape the living crap out of it including banding tape (filament tape). I sort of overdo it (hey, OCD is just a personality characteristic haha) but its all cheap compared to the value (money and time) of what I'm shipping

    Best of luck a

Thats a nice pair….interested how the testing goes. Two great rimfire whisperers there…Jonathan and David.

For out of state moves and selling rifles I have just ordered basic hard cases and had them delivered since they arrive in the factory cardboard boxes.
That way they are a little more discrete than just a rifle case out in the open for every mongoloid at the PO or whatever company you use to ship.

Great idea. I’ve just bought them from LGS but this makes a great deal of sense. Thanks.

When I shipped, always in an inexpensive hard case, then I used the cardboard box it came in. Instead of using the cardboard box as is, I opened it up and reversed it. Turned it inside out, so no printing on the outside of the box, just plain cardboard. Also did this when flying, saves the more expensive hard cases used there.
