Great more expensive welfare recipients we will pay for.
That's some funny shit right there . Cannabis is used in helping patients with dimentia all over the world . Not sure you even read that bullshit you posted, but New Zealand does not like their folks to smoke weed . Maybe that skewed their tiny study ?

    Now let's do alcohol.

Societal and governmental attitudes towards depressants vis-a-vis stimulants is totally messed up. Nicotine is probably the most effective tool for self-medicated various forms of attention deficit disorder and has fueled the productivity of great men for centuries, and it's been public enemy #1 for most of my lifetime. Yet the consumption of a known neurotoxin is encouraged via every form of advertising media, and we're getting to the point where shooting heroin in public is tolerable. Weird times.

The demonization of nicotine is insane. For the most part nicotine by itself isn't very harmful. The worst effect is constriction of blood vessels which, if you eat properly and aren't fat isn't a huge issue.

Smoking isn't great for your lungs and long term health if you smoke a pack a day for years on end either but still. Alcohol is far more damaging in the short term.

Some people are starting to see the benefits of slow release pharmaceutical meth to keep up with the horrid drudgery of modern work culture. I can type at my desk for a solid 45 minutes these days.

Let's go after obesity while we're at it.

I have an idea: 'Any health issues that are directly related to personal decisions are not to become the financial burden of those around.' It'll never work, but it gives me something to daydream about while I'm driving backroads...just like removing the 'anchor baby' citizenship, and imposing voting restrictions as well as monetary term limits on those who are receiving welfare.

Just a few of many. I'll shut up now.

While you may be right you still can't deny the OP has a point. pot smokers tend to talk and laugh with themselves. its strange.

I am definitely not for potheads. If it made it seem that way, I need to clear that now. I think that there are also enough credible studies now that link marijuana abuse with schizophrenia.

No thanks. Hard pass for me.

I however am all about you being able to do whatever you want...right up to the point where it affects me.

Nicotine is a mind clearing mild stimulant that helps one focus on the tasks at hand and especially effective in clearing the "just woken up fog". Mechanics, soldiers, longshoremen, roughnecks, and trawler crews are literally fueled by nicotine. Almost everybody at our job, me included, vapes for that same reason.

Depressants like opioids on the other hand, create dependency, complacency, and widespread depression. Makes a hooked population extremely easy to control and saps the very willingness to fight out of even the most belligerent types.

Bullshit meter is pegged here . So much speculation on the demon weed . Don't be afraid of it, it may just cure all the shitty attitudes the drunks and cigarette smokers have here . Fucking vaping is good for the head ?....that shows just how much that shit fucks with your narrow mind . Laughable shit boys, thanks for the chuckle .

I said that once on this forum and no one agreed or even bothered to look at the research. I have a close friend that had cannabis induced schizophrenia a couple years ago.

Lucky his job gave him a 6 month leave of absence (no pay) to recover. He wasn't functional. This is 2-3 years later and he still has some side effects going on.

He is still in denial his episode had anything to do with the cannabis even though multiple specialists told him exactly what happened to him.

*** DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ALL PEOPLE that smoke weed

but if it happens to you, it sucks

like diggler was saying, I don't give a crap what you do to yourself, right up to the point where it might affect me.

Lock yourself in your own private residence and smoke away, have a couple whores over while you are at it, I don't care. My friend with the episode smoked weed for 35 years (he started in his teens) and I have known him for 30 years, still consider him a close friend.

Thanos snap…all illegal drugs are laced with fentanyl

Wipe out that loser population in one weekend.

Guarantee the lights turn on and water comes out of the faucet on monday

Have/had two cousins that burned out over the years and were eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia about the age of 30. One took his life two years ago, and the other probably will at some point. There may be a genetic predisposition to that too.

Been watching a friend devolve from a functional human being to a guy who sits in his SUV and makes weed-smoking videos everyday on FB. He is a shadow of his former self. It has an effect.

When I get old and am terminal with cancer however, I'll gladly take cannabis over the damn opiods. Until then though, hard pass.

I don't think the link between pot use and dementia is entirely accurate. While some studies may suggest potential risks, it's important to look at the broader picture. Many people who use cannabis, especially CBD, report positive effects.

For example, according to this page on medical cannabis for dementia, over 70% of patients using CBD say it boosts their appetite, and more than 50% have reported improvements in anxiety and depression. These benefits highlight how cannabis can be a helpful tool for many individuals managing various health conditions.
