Guys please be aware of PTG trying to sell fake vintage rifle parts.
This is a follow up post from my previous posts about asking if it was a legitimate part.
USMCSGT0331 seen the post and with his much appreciated knowledge and feedback it was obviously fake.
I’m grateful to have him in this group otherwise how would the community know if they are being scammed or not.
I returned the base and finally received a full refund.
Nine months ago I spoke with the owner about purchasing some original M40 ,Commerative and Limited Edition parts that they said they had.
After months of waiting I finally decided to settle for what was supposed to be an Original Redfield 40X M40 scope base total cost of $223 for the base only and did not include windage or mounting screws upon arrival.
Needless to say those parts were never made available for one reason or another.
Do they actually have the parts I don’t know.
Maybe they go to the highest bidder.
Just wanted to share my experience with the community.
The base marked 40 X is what I had received.
Be cautious and get plenty of proof regarding authenticity of items sold as originals.
Good luck with your vintage rifle builds guys.

I would not believe anything they claim.

They are saying that is a M24 receiver because they stamped M24 on it?

Sound like this needs to be added to the PTG thread. I'll add it.

Done.

I’ve never heard of anyone having a straight up, no nonsense, satisfactory experience. Literally, always something wrong with every transaction.

Not going to lie, I've actually had the "straight up, no nonsense, satisfactory experience" buying something from PTG! I needed a chamber reamer for a .10 Eichelberger Long Rifle barrel that I'm using for a build, and PTG somehow had what's possibly the most obscure chamber reamer ever in stock! I was pretty surprised, and I assumed that I'd never receive it, but I rolled the dice and made the purchase anyways. About 3 days later I had it in hand!!! I figured that they'd have to get it made on special order or something, but they had one in stock and just mailed it to me. I bet the guy who does their inventory was shocked to see someone purchase it and was pretty happy to finally sell it. My experience obviously isn't the normal experience from that company, so we'll just consider it to be the exception to the rule, lol.

However, PTG is a bunch of lying frauds, and they've been ripping people off left and right! Not just @fe1, but many, many other people! I just wanted to quickly respond to this post, but I'm going to make another post about the terrible things that I've seen PTG do. I've had quite a few people contact me asking if items they've purchased from PTG are real. Unfortunately, nothing I've seen from PTG has been an actual legit historical item! They're all either complete fakes or unbelievably purposely misrepresented! PTG is the wordt company I've ever seen, and they need to be put under the spotlight publicly. It's shit I've seen them do is absolutely crazy, and I wouldn't doubt it if their customers got together for a class action lawsuit against the company!

On a different occasion about 4 years ago I sent a barrel to a gunsmith to have rechambered from a 30x47 to a 308 so he ordered a reamer from PTG.
He claimed the reamer shattered during the process. Needless to say the barrel was destroyed.
Then it went into battle zone mode between the smith and PTG to get PTG to replace the barrel.
After months of waiting for that they did replace the barrel but it didn’t replace the spider web finish it had on the original barrel so I took a loss and moved on from the smith and the situation.
I settled for a barrel blank that I sold just to be free of the whole ordeal.
Some times we just have to take a hit and move on to free from the disappointments created by others.
This last ordeal with the fake 40x base sealed any further purchases from PTG .
