Anybody ever thought about throwing an Airsoft AICS stock onto a Savage Mark II?

I'm building a Remington 700 in 300WM, and have been considering the AICS. I would thing the toy stock would work well on a trainer. But, at $250, it seems to be a big investment to find out that it would take too many modifications to make it worth while.

Any thoughts?

Here's some links if you're not familiar wth what I'm talking about.

HA!! I get it! Mall Ninja!

But if I'm looking for a trainer for a 300 in an AICS . . . it seems that this is a close comparison . . . Or, I buy a BTVS.

Re: Airsoft AICS Stock . . . ?

Just curiosity, the Savage Mk II is quite accurate out of the box. I have one too. Why bother with the AICS stock that you may have to modify to get it to fit, which may compromise the inherent accuracy of the gun in its original stock. Depending on the model of the Savage Mk II, you can get one with the thumb hole stock. I have two AIAWs rifles and a Remy 700 300 win mag in an AICS stock, so needeless to say I like the stock. I feel that the thumb hole stock on the Savage Mk II is fine for a trainer rimfire.

Re: Airsoft AICS Stock . . . ?

If you look at the way it's constructed..left and right halves...I don't see how you are gonna make any real rifle fit this without so much work that it would be a waste of time.Remember the stock is a HUGE part of the accuracy package, and if it's loose/flimsy it's shit.Leave this junk for the kids "playing in the forts with their buddies"....

Re: Airsoft AICS Stock . . . ?

If I was you and you want to do this, the only easy way to go about it is with Marine Tex, a drill, measuring tape and modeling clay.

Take the action and place it in this sock, drill out your action holes and fine you some new bolts.

From that, I would make a way for the factory mag to work, once all that is done I would use the clay to build up stoppers so the marine tex does not run all over the place.

Poor it in, and "build" you a bedding that fills the holes in the stock, and the action area.

Once all that is done you will be good to go. and it will "fit"

the following comes from the ebay ad..." All airsoft guns, parts & accessories do not support live ammunition and are impossible to modify."

sounds like it would be too much work. You might just be doing more harm than good. besides that isnt this a 700 stock? so how much mod are you going to have to do to A: make it fit a savage? and B: make it work and function period?

Re: Airsoft AICS Stock . . . ?

As JB said,,,,,,I've seen some post on You-Tube of some mods. that guys have done with 10/22's in airsoft stocks and they worked great. If you got the money to play with and make it fit make sure you post some pic's,if you look at the GSG5 alot of guys are running airsoft furniture on them.

Give it a shot, all you going to lose is some cash.........and maybe some fingers and eye's if you don't do it right, but hell we take that chance everytime we pull the trigger on a gun.

Re: Airsoft AICS Stock . . . ?

I say thats a lot of cash.

You would be shocked at what you can get with a pre-payed card at a video game store and a airsoft "match" in your area.

All you got to do is get $75 on a gift card with receipt, go to a field where these kids play airsoft and check over there gear. Do a flat trade and you are done and on the road with a "rifle, scope and sling " in 15 min's.

The real thing only fits a Rem 700 action. This guy is trying to fit a savage rimfire into the stock so the real thing would not work either.

Re: Airsoft AICS Stock . . . ?

If You use a UTG Stock the mode would be alot cheaper but it doesnt have the full metal subframe. Its metal subframe is just around the the action. Even though the UTG stock lacks the full metal subframe like the tanaka, it is just as rigid, but both are more rigid than the cheap plastic stock that many savages come in.

Ahh, we'll then I'd recommend saving another 700 bucks and get a remy! hahaha.

I’m just gonna say this only because I’m tired of hear these type of statements.… those “caution” statements on Airsoft websites are full of BS. I am a certified Glock, Sig, and M4/m16/AR platform Armorer as well as a Licensed federal SOT holder which allows me to legally build full auto firearms, Glock switches, suppressors, and anything else you can think of as long as they never leave the assigned SOT licensed property and they can never be sold or given to anyone either.

I mention the above first because I wanted to make it clear that I’m legally allowed to do what I’m about to say and that I’m well trained and skilled in my craft and I did the following projects for research purposes only. They were never kept and they were all eventually destroyed in accordance with federal laws. But I have successfully built Fully Automatic AR’s using “Airsoft” Lower and Upper Receivers, gas blocks, charging handles, and many other external and internal Airsoft parts before… many of times. Of course there are brands that work and there are brands that are much harder to convert due to the type of alloy metal they use and their tolerances or lack there of. But for the most part i would say about 1/3 of all Airsoft receivers and frames are of good enough material like 7075-T6 or steel ( but definitely not Magnesium and I would stay away from Airsoft parts listed as 6065 aluminum as well because it’s usually not truly 6064) and are absolutely either close enough in design or are an absolute 1:1 perfect clones and can be used in the production of the real steel version of whatever “replica” they are saying it is of. I have even built very nice and reliable sig p329’s, Sig p226’s, many Glocks, M4’s, AK’s, lots of 870 shotguns, and even flare grenade launchers. I also have built about 20 real and well functioning clone suppressors from replica/mock Airsoft suppressors just by using their QD aluminum or steel modeled can that’s hollowed out. I’m currently working on the baffles for my clone QD sandman K suppressor project and just need to pick out one of my baffle core designs that is closest to the real steel suppressors baffle design, and from there it’s easy peasy. Most the time I have to go and buy the real muzzle device that mates with the real version of the replica which can cost a bit but they always attach perfectly and function as they are meant to and lock up nicely with the Airsoft replica models. I even had a Rugged suppressors obsidian 9 replica Airsoft suppressor I bought last year and turned it in to a real steel model that used real steel rugged suppressors booster piston assembly. But I didn’t have any similar baffles for the project but then realized that the replica suppressor came with a single aluminum baffle cup that was an exact copy of the real steel baffles. So I was able to use that one piece and send it to my machinist buddy and have him copy the replica baffle cup and make 10 identical ones out of steel and titanium for me and in less than a week I had an identical rugged suppressor obsidian 9 in my hands with identical internals and a few real steel part and it only costed me about $225 in total to make in comparison to $699-$899 depending on where you look for them online.

Anyways I say that because I always hear people talking about how you can’t turn airsoft guns in a real guns or this and that when they have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about and I’ve never said anything before, but I decided I was going to just go ahead and nip this in the butt for good. It is possible in certain cases with certain parts.but I will never I mention any of those brand names or anything like that. Just wanted to clarify and lay out my experience and my knowledge on the matter.

Cheers

P.S. don’t try anything I mentioned above. I have training and knowledge on the craft and know all the different types of metals capabilities. If you want to do what I did than go get your SOT license because if you don’t and an accident happens and you shoot yourself are you gonna end up in the hospital for a while and as soon as you get out you’re gonna go to federal prison for a while where you will get to make some new friends that want to get close to you for all the reasons that you don’t. It ain’t worth it.
