I want to try the new Hawkins Precision Hunter DBM on my Surgeon RLR but am curious what is required to accommodate the statement:

"Long Action Hunter DBMs require gunsmithing in factory length factory Remington 700 actions and Zermatt Origins to accommodate the magazine COAL."

What machining is needed?

Just a FYI, the Surgeon RLR has it too. Bought one to sort it out, and found out that it would would also have to be machined.
Correct, from time to time there are custom actions with the bump, like the RLR and the older Origins. If the action is set-up to take CIP length magazines you will be good to go though.

Can you share pictures of specifically what needs to be machined to accept the hunter DBM?

I’d rather know exactly what I’m getting into before purchasing one.

Also, do you have an expected timeline to have the mag spacer kits to run shorter coal cartridges in the long action mags available again?

Thanks!

There is a small bump at the rear of some actions. This is a R700 that has had it removed and cerakoted. If the bottom and or magazine hangs up in the rear, this is normally the area. Not a big issue to have it removed.

We are finishing up assembling those spacer kits. Should be out to dealers and on our store soon.

Thanks for the info.

Here’s a picture of my 700ADL 30-06 action. It looks the same as the one you showed.

Looks to be the same, and wouldn’t need any machining, correct?
