AI completely out of control

Hardly lol. My understanding is that the longer each model is used the worse they get.

LLMs are only as good as the data set they are given. People give them way too much credit.

They are entertaining though and the art generation is fun to mess around with and can produce some impressive pictures if prompted properly.

Luckily we are a long way yet. It does amazing things, but still does obvious stuff like make up references when writing papers. Also a reminder these things are designed to do one task.

I can speak English, Spanish, Latin, Greek, Advanced Math, Shoot a Rifle, Drive a Car, Draw a Cat with less than 1/10 of the computing power a brain that is 10X slower than these computers. (The electric bill to train those big models is over $1 million--think of what your brain does on a bag of Doritos!)

Everyone buys into the hype. Companies try and be cheap "Let the AI handle it" That's the real advantage. It can do 90% of we do but at a much less cost. But that frees us up to do the "hard stuff" Why pay some lazy ass team to take your order at McD when a basic AI can do it. (Hell you don't even need AI).

There is a TON of hype and hysteria about this. (see also "Green Vehicles" "Green Energy"). I'm not joking when I say the "rise of the robots" i n the 80s was no different. Yet here we are. We're a dumb lot.

But not that dumb.

This is gay ass shit and anything created by AI is somehow, somewhat, someway, very alternative, realistically wrong and really fucks with the mind. Can see how AI can be used to twist people’s thoughts and emotions about making decisions in life.
