Bergara b-14r pic thread

Since the thread is back to the top, here is my 20" Barreled action. I have an 18" HMR also. Both can shoot better than I can. On this one I used the Trigger Tech Diamond trigger and it's set to 6 oz. The glass is the Sightron 10-50X60 this is the 25003 with military reticle, I have the finer reticle on the 18" and it can get lost on dark targets.

Have you experienced any feeding or ejection issues in the XRS chassis? How's the balance with the heavy barrel?

Using the MDT Chassis I haven't experienced any unusual feeding or ejection issues at all. There is a noticeable difference between the bolts on my 2021 produced HMR and the 2023 produced 20" barreled action. I probably have about 5,000 rounds out of my HMR and about 3,000 rounds out of my barreled action in the MDT chassis. In the HMR I do get occasional rounds hanging up on ejection but usually it's some of the heavily lubed ammo such as RWS or I have some old Geco made by RWS that is heavily lubed. If I wipe the bullets off lightly it's rare to see an ejection issue with it either. In both rifles I have fired everything from Eley, Lapua, SK, CCI, RWS, Geco, Wolf, Federal and just about anything else you can imagine.

I only shoot bench rest with the rifle so balance hasn't been an issue but the 20" heavy barrel does balance well right at and forward of the magazine. The 20" weighs right at 15 pounds total.

Just thought I’d share a new experience. This is year 4 in competitions with my same B14-R, and I had to switch ammo after running low on Geco Bolt Rifle. Been shooting the Eley Contact semi auto subsonic 42gr for about 4 matches, just guessing at BC, and getting the typical misses due to garbage in/out. Finally got a super calm day to run every 50yards out to 350, then play with my app to see just how close I could resolve.
Discovered nothing truly worked until I tested a new drag model (G8), then everything fell in line. Not just close, but spot freakin on!

Got my new b14r build out to zero the other day. Pretty pleased with my groups. Shot Federal Gold Medal and some old Tenex well. Excited to see what it will shoot when I find what it really likes. Pops came out to try it out. He was pretty impressed with it. My boy had fun too.

Build so far:

-B14r carbon barreled action
-MDT Field Stock
-Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24
-Midwest Industries 20moa mount
-MDT 20moa base
-MDT arca rail (gonna swap this out. It’s too short to have the bipod on and drop on to the tripod)
-MDT GRND POD

Thinking I’ll pick up a L3I single shot sled

Not sure what I’ll add next but it’s a good start

I actually went back to the original stock/chassis that came with the Bergara. The MPA Chassis is heavy and I’m tired of lugging the gun around at this weight. I’ve come to realize that the chassis isn’t really improving my overall shooting or my comps. It’s become more of a deterrent moving with it in comps. There’s nothing wrong with the chassis, I just don’t practice and compete enough to really have a chassis aid my shooting. So why drag the weight around.

Here's my b14r that has went through several different variations over the years. Just got it back from elemental industries and currently going through lot testing eley match.

Leupold mk5hd 7-35 pr2
MDT 50MOA rail
Gray ops 1 piece mount
Tacomhq charlie tarac macro
Lilja 24" 1.20 with harrell's tuner
MDT ACC premier
MDT grnd pod "need to upgrade"
Triggertech diamond single stage

@Working Man Tactical nice rifle! What barrel and smith did you use? That the bare AL? Looks nice!!
It’s an xcaliber 1:16 24”. My buddy spun it up and I milled in the extractor slots. The chassis is the raw anodized I got during the blemish sale. I can’t wait to shoot it on a calm day! I have an NRL22 match Sunday, I hope it shoots!

Used barreled action bedded in my stock Frankinturd. 3 layers plywood wrapped with fiberglass cloth and resin.
Aluminum pillars and devcon. Shoots good. My daughter is shooting it in factory class 50 yd benchrest. She hasn't shot a 500 yet but she has got a 497.

That’s a sexy build. I wanted that chassis and may still order one. Been running the factory stock but since I have a KRG Bravo on my 6.5 I will probably go that route. I’m glad I got to see yours though. How does it balance?

Thanks! It balances exactly in line with the front of the ejection port currently. A bipod and suppressor should move that just forward of the receiver.
I can't wait to test some ammo in it, I think I'll get to the range before work tomorrow with three flavors of SK.

B-14R steel barreled action in a Whiskey-3.
I was worried about the magazine fitment but it turns out the trigger guard (that holds the mag catch) and the forend (that forms the magwell) are both adjustable.
Absolutely perfect fit.

I'm working 72's on night shift so I haven't taken it to the range yet, unfortunately.

First group after zeroing went okay

After that I just could not relax behind the rifle. I want to blame my buddy for shooting his 300blk one lane over lol, but it was just me.

1.09moa average group size, 0.40moa average mean radius. 8 five shot groups at 50yds with three ammo types.
