Wild Ass Guess: Perhaps PMs were taken away from members who aren't paid supporters? If so, it was done to fight the fraudsters who use PMs to pull off their scams.

PMs are still there. Top right, next to your username, the little envelope icon. That is if you're on a PC.

I don’t have the envelope on my phone. Still an option if I click on a user name. Envelope still on my iPad.

Scroll to the very bottom. Are you using Realms or one of the Snipers Hide (2020) versions?
Click it and try one of the 2020 flavors you like and everything should be back to normal.
