Well, fu© me a run'n! Laying here feeling sorry for myself.
I was burned out on 12/hr nights for the last 9 years, last 4 were Thursday - Sunday. I quit last month and took a $300 a week pay cut to be the assistant director of maintenance at our new veterans home in Enterprise AL, CSM Bennie G Adkins.
Learned, after the fact, we don't get paid for federal holidays, no benefits for 90 days-expected. An employee called in with covid last weekend, I tested negative Monday, but positive on Wednesday. Had 1 bad day, still have a fever. Missed the grand opening & ribbon cutting today. I get to go in Monday to be tested again. Pretty sure if I'm clear I can work through next weekend to make up a couple of days, not that it's gonna break me. I'd come to the conclusion that I had a natural immunity, wrong!
I'm still a pure blood, so there's that...

Natural immunity does not mean that you cannot get it again, just like vaccination does not mean that you cannot get it again. People have a lot of funny ideas about how viruses work.

Thankfully the strains running around now are not much worse than a bad cold. Hope you feel better soon.

As for the job, hey, you are not stuck there. You obviously have some skills to be in a position like that. Just work on stepping up to a better position. Develop a few new skills if needed to make that next step. This is not your job for life.

Why the fuck are they STILL testing for that shit? It's like the leftists running the administration and the various regional health services DO NOT want to give up their precious fear porn that they have so clung to for the past 4 years. Meanwhile illegals are bringing in polio, whooping cough, and a whole host of third world illnesses that we have worked so hard in the past century to eradicate from our domain.

There STILL are mask weirdos out there who go around preaching about how dangerous it is and the one thing that really causes them to freak out and break down is when people simply chuckle, wave their hands dismissively at them and keep on walking.

Hope you feel better soon. Drink plenty of water and make sure your vitamin C fruit intake is always up and daily.

Did you?

I was transported via helo in 2020, hemoglobin was 6.3, ER tested me, negative, Air Ambulance tested me prior to transport, negative, receiving hospital checked me within 10 minutes of arrival and I was positive. They put me in a covid ward, it took a lawyer to get me released.

Fast forward 6 months after release, I was checked multiple times for covid antibodies, negative to this day. Personal physician says that the positive was vehemently wrong.

FTR, hospital never treated the hemoglobin issue, but they did bill me for a ventilator and an infectious disease Dr I never used or saw.

They scammed the medical insurance, the American people and everyone down pipeline.

I was hoping it would be my last job. My boss took a $600 a week cut to get off the road. According to him, as soon as we start filling up with residents our budget goes up and we'll get raises. I'm not rich, but everything I own is paid for. Just cuts down on toy money.

We have strict protocols being an elder care facility. Our residents are veterans, and the facility is state of the art.
Part of my gripe, is I did want to be there today! I'm excited to start meeting our residents.

Thank you for what you do, man, and get well soon! 🇺🇸

The tests were bogus. My wife is an RN in a state mental health facility. They had people sick with covid from the beginning until tomorrow. They had people who never had a single symptom of illness, but tested positive every single time they tested them.... for years, and they were forced to quarantine them.... get this...... with the actual sick people. Then conversely they also had people who had every symptom of covid, very ill, perhaps multiple times over the course of the pandemic, but since they weren't positive for the test, they were left in their rooms, with their roommates, which weren't sick..

This was all government mandated. It's so damn dumb that if you wrote it into a movie, nobody would believe it..

I feel like they did a pretty good job copying the movie; Contagion

Enjoy the work, with less pay.

You will find the bureaucracy part of the VA and state sucks, and being part of the team helping folks is top notch stuff.

I could make more money. But the reward wouldnt be there.

I’m pretty sure I had it but never got tested. I just felt like I had the flu and an upper respiratory infection for a few weeks. I took OTC flu meds.

I was “exposed” 3 times at work and everyone but me was tested(required) and sent home for two weeks with pay 3 times. I worked and was never tested. I didn’t miss a day of work the whole “pandemic” and I’ve still never been tested once.

Guess I’m the ultimate “pure blood”

Probably built up resistance fighting all those STD's.

Must be employed by a private firm contracting or vending to the government. Look for openings at the VA facility itself. Federal benes.

Never have and never will take a covid test. Does the employer require it? The tests are as reliable as the vaccines. As to doubting the choices I say if the previous job was breaking you down it's a good move. Happiness and well being trump the dollar within reason.

When residents start arriving, we'll have an app that we're required to use everyday before entering, if we answer yes to any of the disqualifiers, they will meet us outside to test before entering the building. Apparently the facility in Spanish Fort AL just went through a full on outbreak. I'm just glad they haven't asked me to vaccinate, I didn't burn my bridge, my old boss would re-hire me in a second!

Sorry to hear about the 'Rona, but it is cool to see someone on the boards so close to my area.

I bid on the structural steel for that new VA facility, but was unsuccessful. I was surprised they were bidding such a large facility for Enterprise. Glad to see the project has moved along and is close to getting residents.

Man made diseases are so weird. I got the rona toward the end of ‘20. I was eating breakfast with the crew and felt a little crummy. Then I realized I couldn’t taste my coffee and that’s where I draw the line. Turns out I had the bug. Lots of vitamins C and D as well as zinc. Their protocols are bogus, and their treatments are idiotic. I stayed home while I had a fever, just like any normal person would do when they have a fever. The main thing is they now when I get any respiratory bug I get a weird coppery taste in my mouth, but since I got that stupid bat flu I haven’t gotten super sick. Guess once I beat that it built my antibodies up even more.

It's modeled after another one, and the other 4 have waiting lists. We've been walking up to 15 miles a day getting ready for the ribbon cutting yesterday. 182,000'²!

Indeed. In my place of work, you will occasionally see someone walking around with a mask. Why? A positive Covid test. They are allowed to report to work as long as they observe 2020 protocols and are asymptomatic. COVID tests are not required where I work. SO the question - why would anyone voluntarily take a covid test to begin with, and if they did, inform their employer?

Do you have any prior military time? Do you have the sense God gave a goose? Then find a federal job at that facility.

Don't forget to stock the men's room tampons. My nearest VA is in Spokane WA. They have tampons for menstruating dudes in every bathroom. The eye clinic is great, I use them for eye care. The 6'3" dude with a beard and dress who works in reception is kinda nauseating to look at. Thankfully, the docs are normal.

I bet he doesn’t suffer from sweaty balls though

That's thanks to the government giving more money to hospitals for each room for COVID and each vent use. One of my bosses had the beginning of an umbilical hernia. In a lot of pain. But it had not ruptured aun strangulated, so it was not considered life-saving surgery. So, they would not admit him and their reason, and I quote, "we have to have beds available for COVID patients."

"How many COVID patients do you have right now?"

"None."

See, they were getting paid to have beds available that no one else can use. So, yeah, hospitals run on dollars. Next time they want payment for ER visit, remember the time they turned away patients and got your tax dollars for keeping beds vacant and nurses paid so that they could make dance videos.

Priorities, priorities.

The COVID tests were engineered to give a false positive test. Testing one way or the other means nothing. Watch your symptoms and go from there. At this point of the viruses evolution it should not be fatal.

Absolutely correct, Ronws. I know many people that work in the medical field. It’s such a corrupt system

Can't be positive for covid if you don't test.

I had something before my surgery. Luckily at the time hospital required masks so they couldn't see my sniffles and I held my cough for 20 mins.

Surgery approved.

Have you tested positive for Covid? (They always ask this).

Nope. (Can't test positive if you don't test!)

Same thing coming back from vacation. 4/6 in our circle got covid. 1 didn't and 1 didn't bother to test because why would I? Its the fucking flu now.

Use the ancient medicine of my people: 7up and chicken noodle soup. And a nap. Can I bill Insurance?

I studied hard and past my test this morning! They're testing 100% every other day until 100% of employees can pass. Ribbon cutting went off spectacularly without me. No, they didn't even miss me a little bit?!

This is firmly in the Heart of Dixie, we don't play such games here. We pray at the end of every meeting. I haven't even heard if we would get any women. I do know we have 2 neighborhoods dedicated to memory care. Trying to take in all our responsibilities (weekly, monthly, quarterly & annual tests of every system in the building, seems daunting right out the gate. We have to coordinate with different departments, but everything has to be logged into our system. It will smooth out as we develop routines!

Vaccination used to mean you wouldn’t get something.
