Had an interview at a community college for instructor. Things were rolling right along, and even the LGTBQ+ question I handled with grace so I think. I replied with whatever group a person aligns their identity doesn't matter to me so as long as they respect others beliefs & opinions and behave like a decent human. That seemed to get the interviewers approval based upon her body language. Then the DEI question popped up and I called the practice racism in disguise and an exclusion policy. To say we need this many of this "person of color" or this sex/gender for the job is excluding potential candidates highly qualified for a position, but lack the target demographic for the position. I concluded that even Martin Luther King Jr. would disapprove of the DEI philosophy & disgusting practice.
I mean, I didn't want to waste my time and wanted the job, but there are things I just cannot abide.
