Just got me a Barrett MRAD in 300 PRC but might eventually get a 338 Lapua barrel for it, so I want to get a 338 suppressor that'll work for the 300 and 338. Any suggestions? Also if anyone has experience installing a can to an MRAD I'm all ears. I've heard the brake is a pain to detach. Thank! Also, this is my very first post to Sniper's Hide :)

I love my SilencerCo Omega 36-M on my MRAD, and use it for literally all of my barrels ... 300-PRC, 300-WM, and 338-LM. Paired with ASR brakes on all barrels and an ASR mount on the can, everything is quiet and accurate. Hard to beat that combination, although a number of non-SiCo cans can probably match it. I've had awesome customer support from SilencerCo though, so I'm very loyal ... with 8 cans from them that all work great on my arsenal.

Nothing will come close to beating a thunder beast 338 ultra gen 2 in suppression on 338

^^This. I have 2 Gen 1s, and have a Gen2 in jail right now (SR version on the Gen 2). I use them on everything from 6.5-.338, and everything in between.

As mentioned a TBAC 338 Ultra is going to be the best. I have used one and have a RR version on order for my 338LMAI.
With that said I have also used a dead air Primal and been pleasantly surprised by the performance. They are in stock right now and cheap. I ran one on my rifle for a 8th place finish at Nightforce this year.

As someone above said…. Nothing will come close to the Thunderbeast Ultra 338. I ran the old one on my MRAD and have just received the new RR version so I’m running it now. I can shoot all day long with no ears and my ears are super sensitive. It’s more quiet to the ear than a sub 9 with a can.

I’m running the Magnus SR for 30 cal and the KGM R338 for 338. Eventually I’ll buy the RR Magnus 338 can for 338

Zeroing the 308 barrel for some plinking yesterday.

Looking for a suppressor to mount on my 300 PRC MRAD using existing muzzle brake. Understand that the AM 30 has been discontinued. Is there another manufacturer offering a similar product?
Thanks.

I used the Barrett AML338 at their school last month on app PRC and it was amazing. On my MRAD, I use SiCo’s Hybrid 46M and I put KeyMo adapters on all of my rifles and use Dead Air’s mounting system. The Barrett suppressor is slightly, and I mean slightly quieter to the naked ear but I’m not about to drop $2200 with a stamp tax and sales tax on another suppressor when I already have so many. Going to try the Sandman S on it tomorrow.

The Sandman-S is one suppressor that I was considering however, I wish there was one that fit on the Barrett adapter. Thanks for the info.

Yeah unfortunately there is one Barrett that does currently and it is ungodly expensive! However, a quick muzzle brake change fixes that. I have not tried the Sandman S on it but I suspect the Hybrid 46M will trump it in suppression. A better comparison, and probably the one that is right from the Sandman line for this gun is the Sandman L

Thanks again.

Oh and when you take the Barrett muzzle brakes off, they have red Loctite in them. Use a torch and get them to around 600 degrees until it starts to melt out and they should spin right off. A heat gun won’t cut it. Ask me how I know 😂😂😂
I don't know why Barrett didn't team up with another manufacturer to produce the AM-30, or a similar model that fit the Barrett brake. Using a torch heated to 600 degrees has convinced me to skip the suppressor. Thanks for the info - much appreciated.

They went this route because of the military contracted MK22. When it comes down to it, they don’t make a ton of $ in the civilian market when the government will order thousands at a time from them. That being said, it is an absolutely incredible suppressor.

And don’t fret using a torch on the muzzle brake to take it off, it won’t hurt a thing. Heat it for 60 seconds and try to turn it off. Keep doing it in 30 second intervals until it twists right off.

I’ve also had luck with using brake cleaner in the past to get past red loctite. Sounds weird, but I’ve soaked muzzle devices, even aluminum pistol comps, with brake cleaner, and was able to spin em off without issue. Just an FYI if you can’t use heat

You just taught me a new trick! Not sure how easy that would have been on the M107A1 though😂

It’s not as “fast” but I’ve had good luck. I prep the day before by soaking it every few hours, and I’ve had no problem spinning red loctit’ed things right off this way

Would mostly shoot 6.5 and 308, but want the ability for 338, so looking into one as well. Thanks for the reply
Love it. I use them on 6.5CM, 300PRC, 300NM, 338NM, 338LM (don’t have a .308). They’re big, but very quiet. Still waiting on the Gen 2 SR to clear jail, but it’s supposed to be even quieter.

I think it’s the perfect choice for your needs (if you’re going to need 338 too). I don’t think there’s a better suppressor out there that can cover all those bases. The only downside is the size, if that’s an issue for you (it isn’t for me).
