For what it’s worth to anyone on the fence about buying an Impact 4000, they are well worth it! For long range varmint/coyote/medium game hunting while solo, they are a game changer in speed of engagement. Also, not that it needs to be said, but Scott @ Vortex is THE MAN! How would the impact 4000 perform for ranging ground squirrels out to two or three hundred yards? Is the aim point of the laser small enough to work for such small targets?
Yes. It is fine for that. I have ranged 18” wide to a mile. The secret is making sure you have it zeroed
New to long range and recently decided to spend xmas money on this vs a 300 PRC barrel. (Mrad) the question i am wondering in looking in the buy sell forum.. why they are being sold off?

There are tons of everything being sold in the PX.
I think alot of people buy cool toys, realize they don't use it often enough or at all and decide to get whatever equity they have back by selling.
If i had to choose between 1500-2000 dollars worth of ammunition or the impact, I would buy the ammunition.
I’ve had the Impact 4000 for a while now, and it’s definitely been worth the investment. It’s made a huge difference for me when hunting solo, especially on longer-range shots for varmints and coyotes. The speed of engagement is really impressive. And I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Scott at Vortex—he’s always been super helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely happy with my purchase.

Will this get alot of use.. dont know. I do plan on going longer range eventually. And i plan on spending that money on ammo anyways so buying more ammo is a mute point.

I used mine in matches, hunting deer in the arizona desert and target shooting steel. It is phenominal. Wish it spit data out faster, but thats my only real complaint. Finding the right mount is the hardest part.
Poked my deer at 565 yards this year, double lung. Being able to range on the fly without getting off the gun is priceless. Just ads bulk, but worth it.
