Scored a rare one this week. A friend said he had a buddy that had one on his CZ .22 after I told him I was searching 1 of 3 different scopes. He called his guy which had removed it actually for a newer scope. Got it for a good price. No book or box just scope. Has the dot crosshair reticle. Which reticle did the M40a1 scopes have?

I believe they had a Duplex .. something like that… slightly thick cross hairs, reduced in diameter at the center of the scope… if that makes any sense…

I have one that came with a duplex that had been laying around forever. I got this stock back in '21 and picked up an early .243 varmint special B/A back around the first of the year. I shot it for the first time a couple weeks ago. I had a little bit of trouble getting it focused for my blind eyes but it appears that it will work well for the occasional trip to the range or sniping groundhogs and a deer every once in a while.

I sent mine into Iron Site LLC and had a Mil-Dot installed... they did an excellent job!

That's fucking awesome! I wanna do basically that with my SSA M40X. I need to get the stock and a new stock pouche. I know mine shoots very well already just wanna make it a smidge more robust in the stock department than the wood.

It’s a fantastic scope.

About ten years ago I picked up one NIB off of EBay. Dude found a time capsule with a few of them inside. I was the first to break the cellophane wrapper for the great price of $350 or so IIRC.

Mine currently sits unmounted and never for sale. Should I ever decide to change out the Unertl from my M70 this would be the scope.

My dream would be to be as awesome as @deltawiskey and put a mild dot inside.

I have the instruction pamphlet I can pdf if needed.

Out of curiosity, is there any reference to how the USMC used the scopes? Dialing like modern scopes?
Bet they zeroed at a suitable distance / say 600 yards than held balls or head based on their best guesstimate of range.

Hitting an enemy in the foot was as good as center of forehead according to doctrine though forehead was preferred.

I bet they dialed.
Remember, this is in the heyday of 500m metallic silhouette shooting an the Weaver T-series was THE scope for the event. The MS shooters dialed a lot for range all day and the T-scopes were the only scopes that could handle all the dialing.
I'm sure the T10 was procured because of the reputation from the silhouette ranges.
I did the same in Norway at the time.
Only comment I have regarding mounts is that the distance between the rings should be as long as possible. The short Leupold one piece mount it the worst possible solution. On Win M70 it is much better to use a two piece base and reverse the rear to get the ring just in front of the bolt handle.

Yes.

I’d trust dialing with the T10.

My comment on holds was in thinking more about the earlier Redfield Accu Range scopes.

I have a couple of the Leupold M40 not really replica scopes and won’t dial them. I hold dots.

On the real Redfields they didn’t have dots and had to hold high or low.
