I didn't vote for Trump in 2016. He was a friend of the Clintons and donated a lot of money to them and other liberals. I saw him as a Trojan horse. I began to think near the end of that election that he isn't just there to have fun and tank the republicans, I began realizing he at some point took something personally and wanted to the best for America. I didn't have a lot to go by so not being sure, I didn't vote for him. Of course, I didn't vote for Hillary either.
He's shown that he is on the right side. Before covid our debt was still growing yearly approved deficits. I didn't like the arms deals with the saudis. I didn't like how the Kashoggi situation was handled. Snowden and Assange should have been pardoned by now. He should be independently destroying unneeded departments. It's the executive branch, they're his bureaucracies to remove. He's also been broadly off-putting to groups we need to win this election. The dems have dead people voting, we need every voter we can get and should not be acting in a way that will alienate anyone. I find that which got him elected may also be that which leaves voters behind. I don't know how to quantify it or reconcile it.
He's also had some great wins and he's really surprised me. "Owning the libs" and "triggering the media" are his greatest day to day accomplishments, in essence holding or reclaiming the culture line. I'm voting for him this year. I don't particularly like him but he is the right person for the job right now.

I was in your space in 2016 and I will say I had my doubts about trump, but I had no doubts on their primary opponent and the direction our country would go.
