Proof Research Rim Fire Barrels

There are a lot of RimX guys who use or have used Proof pre-fits with good success. You can do a quick search and find a few threads on it. That's mostly the steels barrels.

If you're looking for feedback about their Tikka, Ruger, or CZ carbon fiber pre-fits you might have a harder time. I don't think I've met or heard of anyone using one on the forums. However I'm sure there are a couple floating around.

It's the worst performing prefit out of all the barrels I've had for a rimx. Proof < PVA < [krieger, muller, etc]

It's less about the steel and more about the chamber. Proof's rimx prefit use a pretty standard Bentz chamber. Custom gunsmiths have their own magic sauce.

Thanks....This was kinda my thought but without ever owning a Proof rim fire barrel thought I'd ask....I have owned a couple of Proof center fire barrels and they shot ok but never Impressive...I still may buy a Prefit later just to see...I will order the longest one I can find if it don't shoot have my smith re-chamber it.

There are much better options out there.
Agreed....I have a 16T Kreiger, a 13T muller and a 16T bartlien and another on the way, also a 16T ACE i just got from Manzella that's a hammer...I just have a short attention span and like to try new things...Like the Manners PRS-TCS I just got and don"t care for LOL!

I have a 16.1" on a light CZ build. It doesn't shoot bad, but not as good as the price would suggest. If you were specifically looking for weight savings, Acculite would be more kind to your pocketbook. I only went for the Proof because I saw a great Black Friday deal on one last year and the wife wanted a light, compact precision rig.

I sold mine here local...I was running the XYLO chassis and decided to try the XLR Envy pro with the full JV weight kit after talking to @padom about balance for short barreled 22s....got the first one and like it so much I ordered 3 more.

I have one posted here but no Sikes rail. They are super popular. A lot of people including myself hope they will post better scores by going back to more of a traditional rifle feel. It has that feel as well as great adjustability.
I just had trouble getting it to balance my Vudoo, so I picked up a foundation inlet for both Vudoo and Impact, so I can use it on two rifles. Still have to keep bipod on for balance on the Vudoo.

What length and diameter barrel?

I don't have one, but i do know a guy that i see regularly at a range that I frequent. He showed up one day telling me about how he got a rim-x action and dropped a prefit proof barrel into it. All stainless, not carbon fiber.

honestly, with the lot of sk long range match he was shooting, that thing was a hammer. He was cleaning ARA targets at 50 yards while standing, using a stool with gamechanger as a rest.

It was literally a thrown together rifle. He got the action and only went with the proof barrel because he didn't have to wait for it. Dropped it into, I believe, an Aero chassis.
