Fun fact-Christopher Columbus actually didn’t land on the land we now call the USA. He landed on San Salvador, South America, and Central America.
It's all a matter of perspective. I once stood on the Continental Divide and pissed on the Mississippi River side. I now consider everything east of Homestake Montana as conquered territory.
I used to stand on the State line between Oregon and California and piss into California from Oregon. Oregon isn't much better than Californica these days.
