Anybody have any firsthand experience with an iPhone 14 pro max phone to spotting scope adapter? Kicking around trying one and was curious if they will fit spotting scopes and binoculars or just spotting scopes.

I know you’ve seen this link in the bino thread you started, but just posting it here for others.

I think currently the Ollin, Magview, and Phone Skope are the front runners. I use a Phone Cam and it’s decent but futzy (technically called the Otterbox PhoneCam Kit with Universal Adapter).

I have the phone skope. The pic in my signature was about 500yds with a 15x45 celestron ultima spotter S7 galaxy. They have a program for phone upgrades if you change phones. I have picss of elk at 2800 yds and a wolf at over a mile from that trip. Was secure on a lightweight tripod and a gorilla pod attachment I use for out the truck window spotting. The Magview is out for me as I use wireless chargers and the plate prevents that.

This is a good webinar to watch that Kowa and Phone Skope made. Phone Skope makes many different adaptors for scopes, binoculars and various phones.

One of the features that you have with the iPhone 11 Pro and a Phone Skope adaptor and their iPhone app is the ability to select the lens. If you use the 1x lens, you'll most likely get some vignetting. But if you use the 2x lens, at least in my case, you won't. Depending on your phone, you may not have this option.

This webinar focuses on using the Phone Skope adaptor with a Kowa spotter. But the techniques can be applied to any spotter.

Phone Skope Digiscoping Adapters

Here's a picture taken using the Phone Skope adaptor and the 2x lens on my iPhone 11 Pro and a Kowa 773. Distance to the tree is 344 feet. Unfortunately, I did not note the magnification level on the Kowa.

I would assume this is pretty sick, but I have never used it.

Ps. iphones for all their hype are trash compared to a Samsung, especially with the camera. I do not want to start a petty debate here but the Samsung 20 Ultra has the best camera ever put into a phone. My gf and I just went on vacay and every pic I took embarrassed her brand new iphone.

So if you truly want the best pics Id look into that as well. Let me know if you get that Magview attachment I am curious how well it works.

I just got my hands on a phone skope system for an iPhone 13. I got the adapter specifically for my spotter instead of the universal piece because I’d heard a lot that the universal piece required a lot of dinking. I put the eyepiece on and twist my phone in and it’s pretty solid.

Beyond that, once you get the phone squared away, it’s all about getting a good image. I’ve been very impressed with how my Athlon talos and iPhone 13 get along. I’ve got videos of deer at over 700 yards with just seconds of daylight left. It picks up trace and impacts clearly. I zoom in to between 2x-2.5x on my phone and don’t really have to touch the spotter anymore for viewing or focusing. The phone will focus as long as I have the spotter roughed in. It’s been a lot of fun and easy to get some pretty cool footage that I’ve never been able to get before

I used a phone scope on an earlier version of Samsung. Worked perfectly. The only reason I haven't upgraded is they seem awfully expensive for what they are.

Here is another pic. I had issues with the phone constantly refocusing mostly because I don't read directions. The ranger said these bears were 300 and 400ish#s. Being my first grizzlies idk but I do know that they looked like they were about 100#s less than that imho. I ran bears with hounds for 5 years and have seen many black bears with biggest taken @525# dressed and another one we saw 2 seasons that was longer in length and had a larger track for reference. This is right in that 500 yd range roughly. I ran as much magnification as I could so most likely between 40 and 45x for this pic. A higher quality glass would clean up the image. This was 4-6pm sun about 9:00 to me and the bears.

scope cam adapter. there new mag plate universal Digiscoping kit is awesome and it is really easy to swap it to a different phone when you switch phones. there kit is really simple and easy to use and all of the components are built really well. this shot was taken at 5200 yards when I was messing around with my new Kowa 99

Question. Is it possible to see vapor trace when recording with a iPhone through a a spotting scope? I have a 80mm Swarovski. I need to see where my shots are going when shooting open sighted guns, like my 30-40 Kraig, out to 600 yards. Trying to adjust ladder sights not calibrated to the loads is kind of a guessing game made easier by a spotter.

I just bought the Ollin system after seeing one live...super easy to use and allows you to take great video for getting your DOPE down when you are shooting solo. I love watching the vapor trail in slow mo.

Old thread, but good information. I ran phone skopes for years and had to upgrade every time I got a new phone - and it was not a cheap adapter upgrade. This - if it works as advertised - is a far better solution, since it is not phone-specific.

I appreciate the link, will buy this right now...

Update to my prev posts:

I bought an Ollin and it is awesome. If your needs are like mine, where attachment speed/time from pocket to filming is key (sub 5 sec) and almost no futzing for horizon alignment is desired, the Ollin is king.

I use Ollin with a LEUOPLD 12x40 GR HD and I have a Iphone14 Pro Max. The Ollin adapter has just been released for the Mark 4 and the LEUPOLD GR HD. The system works perfectly. There is a u-tube review on line.
