KRG Echo Chassis

yep, just placed my order this morning for a carbon forest one.
Everyone should note that you need to order LOP spaces and the thumb screw dial separately. They have a special combined package of that for the echo for like $15.
The guys at KRG said they also modified their short arca rail to fit the echo right in front of the magwell.
Excited to get my 6.5 PRC out of the bravo it is currently in and into the echo to cut a little weight and have a longer forend for off hand shots.
@YotaEer - It states .95 at the fore-end, but will this barrel channel accept a barrel contour similar to that of Proof Sendero or even larger? I know it says Varmint, but can't find any details about how wide towards the shank.
Also - is there any other Arca Rails that are suppose to be compatible with this setup from KRG? How about a rail toward the end of the fore-end for a bipod that isn't sling stud?
I tried calling, but they aren't open yet.

It'd be interesting to see the balance point of the bare chassis compared.
If this chassis has less weight in the butt I might buy one.
If it's like a Bravo, you can easily just cut a bolt handle notch in the other side to make it left handed. That's what I had to do with my Bravo.
Doubtful since there’s not much structure and weight in the butt of a bravo. They’re actually pretty ass light. They cut the aluminum backbone out of the forend so I’d imagine that’s where the reduced weight comes from.
KRG told me that they do not know if a Proof Research Sendero Contour barrel will work, but they did say the Proof Sendero Light and Bartlein #13 Remington/Varmint Sendero Contour will work.
I guess I’m about to find out on the proof sendero bit. That’s what I have. 24” long
Not sure the answers on the longer arca rails. I asked them “how do we attach an arca rail to the bottom?” And their reply was only that they modified their short arca rail to fit the echo.
Yes I have 2 tikka bravos. One CTR version on a 6.5 creed and the AICS version on a 6.5 prc, which I will be swapping with the echo.
I’ll update when I receive it.

Shame on me for not reading the fine print, but also seems like low hanging fruit for KRG to open that Up another 1/10th of an inch (if that) to make sure the proof sendero and similar CF barrel contours fit.
Looks like they simplified it a bit though with the butt hook area.
I know thr Bravo is very lightweight by chassis standards, my only complaint (more like constructive criticism) is that compared to a stock they are still ass heavy.
Maybe it's not possible to remove any weight from the rear section, but I'd be over the moon if they could.
I have my Echo in hand if anyone has questions. Advantages of being 30 minutes from their shipping location.

Ok, I have a Tikka Roughtech Ranch in 223 I dropped in. Overall impression: I like how it handles and feels. It balances better than the Roughtech stock, and I like the vertical grip better.
The stock as it arrives. It comes with 2 cheekpieces, I regular and 1 lightweight.
The Roughtech ranch. Stock from the factory weighs 6 lbs, 8 oz on my scale.
Without mag, the Roughtech stock is:
Vs the Echo:
Install is easy, though slightly different than a bravo. First thing that annoyed me (and it’s minor). The front captive action screw needs to be threaded into the action to allow the action to sit onto the lug. I like to put an action in, feel it seat on the lug, and then start the action screws. With the captive front screw you have to start the screw into the action before it can seat on the lug. Minor irritation, and only on install. There may be a way to pop the mini internal chassis out and avoid this, but I didn’t try.
With the action installed, the setup now weighs 7 lbs, 4 oz.
Balance is nice, centered right on the forward 1/3 of the mag.
Things to note: with the cheek piece down, you can’t remove the bolt from the action. I haven’t had a Tikka Bravo, just Remington 700 Bravos, but I don’t remember that being an issue with the Rem Bravo.
Is the lightweight cheek piece light enough to warrant install? For me no. The main difference is the clamping bar and hardware. Standard piece with hardware was 2.6 oz, lightweight with hardware was 1.9 oz.
With the normal insert, the Roughtech Ranch barrel has generous clearance.
Overall: I’m happy with it. I like Bravos but this feels less chunky and more streamlined, and the forend is nice and stiff. Definitely an upgrade from the Roughtech stock, and a nice light alternative to the Bravo for trekking around with all day.

You can’t remove the bolt with the cheek rest installed on a Tikka Bravo either.
They are rear heavy though.
My Tikka T1x with 16" barrel was basically impossible to get balance in front of the magwell, regardless of what weights I threw at it.
I rebarrelled it with a 25" Medium Palma barrel and it just barely balances in front on the magwell.
My 19" 260 (CTR contour) won't quite balance in front the magwell with a lb worth of suppressor hanging off the end. Neither will a 24" 6.5CM CTR.
The factory CTR/Super Varmint stock would balance in any of these scenarios.
I love my KRG Bravos. My only complaint/wish is that there was a little less weight in the rear end.
Are you adding the internal weight and any of those heavy full-length Arca spacers and full-length heavy Arca plates?
I got my Bravo to balance on a tripod with a 22” Mueller Remington Varmint weight barrel + suppressor, a NX8 4-32 w/ARC Mbrace, a light KRG full-length Arca plate and the aluminum adjustable buttplate (not LOP). I’d have to check again exactly where it balanced. No internal weight.
Below is the gun. Differently spec’ed than what balanced on the tripod: Had the stock pad on with a heavy spacer (no adj butt), and regular rings.
To run with a rear bag on a bench I needed to actually add weight to the butt for better accuracy. I threw in the heavy barrier stop inside the handgrip and used a heavy lop spacer with the KRG thin buttpad.
However, I agree I wish the butt was lighter or really, in my case that the forend was heavier. I’m not a PRS guy btw.
Yea I can balance them with weights, I got a 14" steel arca rail and long forend weight made which together add about 4lb.
However even with these weights and the 25" barrel my T1x only just gets to perfect balance for PRS (3-4" in front of mag well). Adding any heavy spacers moves it back a good 1-2".
I appreciate for hunting purposes a perfectly balanced rifle doesn't really matter and it's the overall weight that's important.
But specifically for 22lr competition a balanced but lightweight rifle (10lb or less) would be nice for some comps I shoot. Even hunting would be nice at times to have less weight in the rear.
I love my KRG Bravos. For the money I don’t think they can be beaten, and I like them considerably more than the MDT Oryx or XRS.The only complaint (more like constructive criticism) is less weight in the rear would be nice.
Hence my comments about the Echo, if they have less weight in the rear I'd probably buy one. If not then I'll just keep my Bravos.
I remember when the Bravo came out and lots of us asked for a LA version and Jason said it was impossible. I’ve had a 6.5x55 waiting for this day.

The US Govt has armed plenty of terrorists over the years so I don't see why they would be so afraid of letting overseas hunters and sport shooters buy a bit of metal and plastic off a private, USA manufacture and veteran owned company...

For the most part business just say things are ITAR restricted when they aren't. The rules are so convoluted, and the penalties so high that it's just not worth the risk for a few dirty foreigners.
Not to mention dealers/distributors don't like being undercut by grey imports. Even if the only reason grey imports exists is because of price gouging.
However there are people who will ship export KRG chassis if you look hard enough.
I bought a T1x chassis from the US as the local dealer was:
A, a rip off.
B, didn't have the beat colour in stock (Sako Green obviously).

To add to the discussion about weight.
I went and weighed my CTR (adjustable) stock with a 223 CTR magazine and it weighed 2lb 14oz.
The standard T3 lite stock is less than 2lb but isn't really a fair comparison to the Echo.
So the Echo at 2lb 10oz is pretty good going. Giving all the cartridge options of the T3 (not limited by AICS/CTR mag length) the Echo looks to be a very nice option for T3 owners.

Probably the "Rokstok". I think the production was such a shitshow that they've temporarily stopped taking orders for it due to the backlog.

I then asked if removing the barrel channel would significantly reduce the rigidity of the forend or cause other problems and got this response:
“Sir, removing that piece will reduce rigidity, however we believe it will still be sufficient for most shooters’ purposes.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!”

I love bravos. I’d happily trade one of my bravos for another rokstok though. Echo isn’t lighter enough to make me feel any different about it than the bravo.
Thing that puts me off the Rokstok is no LOP shorter than 13.5" and it doesn't seem like they can do a full length ARCA rail. As much as I shit talked the grip angle I think my #1 candidate might actually be the new MDT Crbn stock if I eventually do upgrade.
Side note, KRG's ARCA spigot (and all their other ARCA stuff) now has R-Lock holes for compatibility with that system. That convinced me to buy a spigot for my hunting rifle. They hadn't even mentioned it on their website at all but I happened to notice it in a picture on some chassis page. Called to ask and now the site has been updated.

So I pulled my 6.5 prc out of the bravo and put it into the echo.
As I suspected, the barrel didn’t clear even with the larger barrel channel insert. it does barely clear with the insert completely removed. Enough to fit a few sheets of paper down the entire way back to the recoil lug, even when putting some pressure on the bottom.
Like KRG said, it does work and I don’t think it will be an issue for the vast majority of shooters. However, with the insert removed, there’s enough flex in portion of the echo ahead of the front sling stud that I can get it to contact the barrel if I really press.
This would never be an issue shooting off hand or from a tripod, but I could see it being an issue if you’re really loading a bipod at the very front and have to remove the insert to get a proof sendero or other large contour to clear.
Overall, it’s just a sleeker, lighter bravo. Same fit and finish, grip, levels perfectly etc. I like it.
Unfortunately, one issue I do have is that the regular old plastic tikka mag I have is very loose. It won’t fall out, but the back of the mag drops about 1/4” which is enough to keep the bolt from grabbing a round. If I press slightly on the bottom or hold it upright then it feeds fine. But just letting it hang in a tripod it won’t feed. Maybe metal hells canyon mags would be the fix? Any other suggestions?

I think it shoots a little shorter than its stated lop so you might be fine. Seen some pics of kids shooting them. I dono if it's getting the negative comb dialed or just the ergonomics but my friends and I all needed to add a couple spacers and we normally shoot about 13.5-13.75 lop. (I shoot 2 spacers on a bravo with the cheek riser flush and 4 on a hunt 26 for comparison )You can get a mini arca installed in front of the mag but not sure about full length so yea that might be a dealbreaker for you. But i ordered a second immediately after my first range session and i suspect others did the same hence the backlog.
If i didnt paint my bravo and have it all fitted with arca and pic to might liking i might swap it for an echo. itd be nice to have the ability to swap between LA and SA but im not a fan of the button hook. Still might give it a try if some pop up for krg black friday

Do you believe the carbon wrapped #13 Bartlein Remingtin/Varmint Sendero Contour will fit without the removal of the insert?
I haven't received my echo yet, but KRG stated it should fit.
KRG seems to be very upfront with their info, so you will probably be ok with the insert removed. But I don’t have any experience with that contour.
I’d compare its specs to that or the proof sendero and see how it compares. Mine does clear fine.
With that said, I’m still going to take the dremel to that small area in front of the sling stud to open it up slightly more for peace of mind.
I also ordered a mag retainer spring for my mag issue. The echo install instructions say to keep that installed with this chassis but I don’t have that spring anymore. Never needed it for the bravo AICS chassis and now can’t find it.
So some very quick work with a dremel and fine sand paper opened up the very front of the stock to give plenty of room for the proof sendero. I took off maybe .2”
If KRG would just do this from the factory then it would be a real no brainer for tikka hunting builds.

Yes
The 2 screw holes closer to the Mag well have threads. The 2 holes at the front need to utilize the nuts included with the arca rail from KRG. If you remove the barrel channel insert, you’ll see there’s premade slots on the topside of those holes for the nuts to sit in and not rotate while you tighten the screw.

It's pretty nice for $299.00. I left the insert in, but its shame they didn't design it to accept the proof research sendero contour with the insert left in.
