Night Vision J-FB Fusion Binocular Review

Visir is the usa rep so I'd contact them. Custom night vision does offer manual gain 1431s. This housing also comes with wires for soldering to the board and pig tails, but that'd be something I'd say is at your own risk unless a dealer tackles it.

Just got my set today. Excited for nightfall.

Thanks to Ben/Kosher/Custom NV!

I also have the monocular version — Jerry-F — with 2800 FOM L3 WP tube as well as the Jerry-CE5 640px Clip-on. Will be interesting to compare the three, and then compare to some unobtanium US current-issue fusion units.

Too soon to ask why you're waiting for nightfall? :ROFLMAO:

Excited to hear your thoughts! Weight looks good...

@TheHorta ’s silence can only mean one of two things. Either he’s so blown away he’s still wandering the woods on his 4th or 5th set of batteries by now, or those dang Chinese really put white phosphorous tubes in there and he’s blind forever (good luck spell checking speech text with no eyes)

I’ve only had time to tinker with them for about 30 minutes thusfar. I’m talking with Zinny who has extensive experience on them to see if I’m getting the best performance out of them.

The Chynah WP i2 tube performance isn’t bad. Certainly not up to L3 WP levels, but I’d subjectively guess somewhere in the ~1500 FOM range — Omni 4/5 spec, give or take. Very usable, but falls maybe 20% shy of Photonis Echo performance.

The thermal is what I need help with. It works great, but I’m not happy with how it “fuses” with the i2 image. It could easily be my ignorance of settings and adjustments (and there are MANY), but the thermal image AGC can easily overpower the i2 image depending upon what you’re looking at. The Jerry-F monocular has a myriad of settings as well, and I did *NOT* like the F when I first got it, but now that I have a boatload of time on it I was able to get it dialed in and it has really grown on me. I figured the FJB would be the same, just with dual tubes, but I was wrong. It’s a completely different animal. Virtually zero crossover in menus and settings.

I’m hoping I’ll have a similar experience with the FJB after I get to know her more.

Kosher/Custom NV has them for sale, I believe. If you want legit thermal fusion bino NV, this is the only way. The Chincom tubes are surprisingly good. I was expecting Gen2 level performance, but they are very similar to Photonis Echo performance, if not identical. Very solid.

The fusion works very well, but my eyeballs aren’t entirely happy with how the image fuses. I prefer the monocular version Jerry-F better in that regard.

For the money, they’re impossible to beat. But the thermal isn’t as good as a standalone RH25 or something dedicated. That said, I’m not really happy with a $35K set of L3 ENVG-B’s either, so it could just be my expectations. Nothing still comes close to the fusion on my ENVG-III’s.

So ballin with a PVS 7D Omni 7 Tube with a Pas 29 slapped on it really ain't as sucky as it sounds.

Basically a Ford Pinto with a 289 small block slapped in it.

That baby will run a hell of a 1/4, just doesn't look real cool.

Least that's what the Kool Kids say.

But what do they really know.

I thought the Jerry was just a housing and you could slap Photonis 3-pad tubes in it, I didn’t realize they were coming with some kind of Chinese tubes in them. Frankly rather have it without although it seems Photonis tubes are kinda hard to come by right now. How do you think they would perform with L3s if I gave up the manual gain?

It sucks that this is the only real commercial option right now. I’m on the preorder list for a new Safran TAD but it’d be nice to have real domestically-produced fusion systems available to normal people.

Yeah, I'd be suspect on them Sum Ting Wong Toobs.

Prolly got some secret menu in them that has Neckid Crackhead Porn in them filmed by Hunter that the Chinese can activate to distract Merican Patriots when the Chinese invade. ;)

Also a testament to people who get Uncle Sam funding. Making a commercial fusion system must be hard as fuck because even at a reasonable $20k price tag you aren't gonna sell a shit-ton of them, there aren't THAT many civilians crazy like us who want to drop new car money on a helmet setup. 😵‍💫 The obvious best answer is for L3 or Elbit to start selling small numbers of systems to the civilian side like they do with 31As, tubes, etc. They've already been reimbursed for the R&D so any civilian sales they get are just icing on the tax money cake they already have.

Has anyone here run these with L3 tubes?

bump for a +1

see custom night vision’s selling them with L3 tubes, and at $13K for the top end, this is very tempting.

I wanted to revive this thread and see if anyone else has been able to get more time on the Jerry FB.

Right now I have a set of WP DTNVS with a coti. For what I use it for, running around in the pastures, it does a passable job. I really like being able to see animals but I can often see animals like rabbits with my night vision before the COTI picks them up. My biggest gripes with the COTI are PID and refresh rate. Beyond 80yds I just see blobs of a thermal signature, and the images I have seen from the Jerry C only look marginally better. I have been toying with the idea of selling the COTI and the DTNVS housing and buying a Jerry FB housing and putting my current WP tubes in there. Do you think that's worth the upgrade? Did the glass on the Jerry FB bother you?

Also with the uncertainty of iray's ability to bring in new products after these sanctions, I wanted to pull the trigger before these potentially dry up.

I spent 5-10 hours behind a set that weren’t mine. I was pleasantly surprised by the i2 performance out of the Chynah tubes, which I would put on par, or close enough to it, with a lot of the Photonis stuff that I have either owned or used (I owned a set of factory 4G Intens Pro-16B’s for a couple of years). In other words, just like the Photonis 16mm “4G” tubes, don’t expect L3 WP performance, because in dark rural areas they are definitely NOT competitive, so you’ll lose NV performance but will hugely GAIN thermal performance, which you can’t even compare with any COTI — legit fusion *CRUSHES* ANY eCOTI/Jerry-C5, and definitely the older 29A 240px COTI you’re currently using.

My solution was to have Jay at SureShot pop an L3 WP tube into a Jerry-F mono fusion, and that seems to be the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the response! From talking to some night vision builders they can use L3 or Elbit tubes but you lose gain control. Since the tubes in my DTNVS's tubes are already clipped they should work for a swap. My biggest hesitations are lens quality, I don't love the GPS feature, and the long term serviceability of this post sanctions.

I am really between the Jerry-FB and getting an RH25/NOX18/Sidekick and bridging it with a spare PVS14.

Curious which route you chose.

From a newb standpoint, reading the little that’s out there, the Jerry FB with upgraded tubes seems like the best avenue vs good PVS14 with RH25. Not knowledgeable enough on the Nox18 or sidekick. Will research those.

Thinking that a Fusion device, Jerry FB, plus a good weapon mounted thermal for long’ish distance would be smart.

I run a bridged 640 Sidekick and L3 unfilmed WP PVS14 on the Ravyn bridge. The Sidekick gets run in the black hot "detect" mode so that anything really hot goes from black to orange, like the COTI patrol mode.

My eyes don't really have a problem merging the images. I turn the brightness down on the thermal and gain up on the 14. Being able to pop the thermal off is great. Having used a COTI, the ability to alter color pallets is huge. It does take a bit of getting used to.

No issues spotting field mice on bushes or in brush piles at 50+ yards with the thermal while walking.

Sidekick is new to me. Do you know how it compares to the RH25??

Anyone with more feedback on the Jerry FB? Especially with upgraded L3 tubes.

Not quite as good as what I have heard. It is the armasight model. They have been fantastic and so has SOK. It is US made vs Chinese and a good chunk cheaper.

Still haven’t pulled the trigger on anything but I am 95% leaning towards an rh25 V2 with a panobridge and Wilcox dovetail mount for my rifle and it will just go back and forth. The Jerry FB is very cool. There are just too many unknowns with it for me and not enough utility. The Jerry FB does dual band better than an rh25 and pvs14 but you can do more things with a pvs14 and rh25. I like having more options and capability. Add that with a cheaper price point and im in. I will say had the Jerry fb had no gps and used pvs14 lenses it would have made my decision much harder.
