Just curious what KYL targets you are using and how well do you like them? Trying to find something that I can put in my truck and take out to the desert and setup easily to do some shooting. While I enjoy range days we have a lot of BLM land around here to use.

I have the shootingtargets7 as well, it's a great rack and has taken lots of shots but I've had to re-weld 2 hangers that broke off. I will buy it again without hesitation when the time comes to replace.

I just bought the rimfire model. It's 1/4" thickness I believe. I just went to their website and searched rimfire kyl. They have made a lot improvements from my model. I don't think that these would break like my older one.
The target thickness comes in 3/16 and 1/2 inch and I am wondering if the 30-40 bucks
Extra for the thicker targets is worth it?

I got targets from all makers listed so far and not one of them ever went bad. Now we got a new atlas targets stands that giving us issues but we have corrected them since. Atlas makes a fine spinner target that is very challenging to spin especially further out so highly recommend!

BLM land?
Out south off Pleasant Valley?
Taking your life in your own hands out there.
Parma Rod and Gun might be a drive from Boise, but you don't deal with the complete morons that you do out on BLM land.

Oh and Jake has awesome stuff.

I’ve done loads of shooting out at Parma, Nampa and Blacks Creek ranges over the years but being tied to a range and only being able to use it when they are open is a giant pain in the ass. I could be nearly to Glenn’s Ferry in about the same time it takes to get to the Parma range. And the amount of BLM in between those 2 spots is pretty staggering.

Parma is open 24-7.
But yeah, there's tons of land out there

Another +1 for shootingtargets7, just the rimfire version without the flags. Great fun! I have a rack of 3 larger gongs for centerfire, so far have only used it for pistol. They always seem to be offering something for free with a purchase over xxx dollars, I ended up with some small 1/2" thick targets. Might have to try the 2" at 200 yards, see how many hits I can make on that

Brad has a ton of good targets and he is in SD, so not to far from me. Quick shipping and easy to talk to.

I went with these as well and I think they are pretty nice.
If you’re just shooting 22lr and pistol I’d go thinner because the bigger gongs of the 1/2” version hardly moves with 22lr. Another thing to think about if you want to do spinners that heavy 1/2” doesn’t want to move

Forgot to mention, with the Shootingtargets7 I had to take a small grinder to the inside of the support pieces to get them to slide over the horizontal bar a bit easier...makes it easier to juggle everything LOL. I also used extra pieces of EMT and some couplers to bring the height up a bit, the gongs were too close to the deck when shooting from a bench.

When it comes to the extra thickness, also keep in mind thicker means heavier, so depending on how far you have to carry everything, that can be a real PIA. I only use the heavy gongs on a range I can drive onto

I would avoid the ones that use this coupling of a slot with spot weld. My personal one has two targets that failed and I had to JB Weld. Same design failed at one of our club matches. I won’t mention manufacturer as there are at least two but easy to check what connection method they use.

ShootingTargets7 is hands down the best value in KYL. Get one, ask him about ordering longer legs (1+ foot longer). Alternatively you can just buy some conduit and do it yourself.

I'm also a huge fan of these from Atlas Target Works - https://www.atlastargetworks.com/co...rimfire-gravity-popper?variant=39668114587747

Really, really easy to set up, he also sells some attachable legs to make set up even simpler. I like to drop one or two of these out past the KYL. You get good feedback on hits, and the quality is outstanding.
