Precision Rifle Gear Tripod. The best.

My searching skills just lack in every way. I know the answer is out there. I’m very unfamiliar with tripods, heads and ways to connect to rifle. Assuming I’ll need gun stock work done as well?

I dont shoot or have chassis guns. All my rifles have your typical McMillan hunting style stocks.
I’m looking for the absolute best tripods and heads. Two actually.

One where weight doesn’t matter. Needs to be as stable and solid as there is along with the head.

One where weight does matter. I realize this is where stability is affected.

Also have no idea what’s needed to attach to my stocks. Like mentioned earlier. I’ll probably need stock work?

Price doesn’t matter.

The RRS 24L with anvil 30 could cover both bases well. If you really want 2, you might go with a 1 series and a 3 series RRS (maybe a 33 and a 14L with anvils).

For your stocks, grab an Area 419 or Henderson arca rail. You’ll just need to drill a couple holes and add t nuts to your stock. Pretty simple/fast thing to do yourself.

Get a 3 piece and a 2 piece RRS with anvil30 heads on both. One for hunting and one for shooting from a static position. The 2 vets are very solid as well but they are Chinese rebranded shit.

For hunting rifles, the salmon river solutions ARCA rails are really nice.

Easy to install.
Work like a dream.

My 12 yr old kid can destroy a 10x10 plate at 502 yds using one.

KAW valley has some small MLOK ones for AR that work, but honestly need a tad more length for improved stability (4” covering 2 full MLOK slots would be more solid)

I like the Area 419 rails for full length, or short where weight isnt a concern.

There is no comparison on the stability of the 34L and 14L. However they both serve a purpose. I need the height because I run a straight spotter, my hunting partner runs the regular 34 and it fits in his pack better. He also runs a angled spotter. Both are plenty high to shoot off of.

Guessing it's all the same rebranded Chinese stuff as the rest of the brands. I would 100% reccomend supporting an American made product. Rrs has their field grade listed on their site to save a little $$$

The best is RRS, BTW, is just not the cheapest

RRS makes two structurally different tripod lines.

TVC
TFC

For max rigidity, either buy a TVC-33 (33mm diameter upper leg with 3 sections) and a leveling head TA-3 leveling base…

Or a TVC-22i (two sections, inverted) that packs up large. They make a short version of the one too. I believe it comes with the Anvil 30.

Read this thread. @Diver160651 is a tripod master and was doing this long before it caught on. There’s a fair bit of technique needed when shooting off a tripod.

For hunting, he suggests a middle ground between the two models I suggested above, namely the TFCT-33 ( the TFC-33 with an anvil sold as a package).

I have a RRS Tripod I bought about 4 years ago. It's pretty good, but there are some issues like the little rings that drop out. It also seems to require a lot of maintenance to get the legs to not get stuck (probably after every range session, or every second one.) Some of my legs have long scratch stripes due to some of the parts getting messed up and needing maintenance. So then I need to detach them all and clean them a lot. To me it seems very needy so I've been looking for other options.

I just got the the TwoVets Recon Inverted V2. Ergonomically, it is way better. If you think about it, you'll probably see why you want the twist things at the top, not the bottom of the legs - the deployment is faster. For the actual tripod head, I think you still want the RRS ANVIL 30 ARC, though - doesn't seem like there is any real competition there. I still haven't been able to see for myself that this tripod is better over time in the field, but it seems promising so far. It is almost probably about $500 cheaper than the RRS alternative, so that is nice.

I have a pair of Vortex Radians with Ball Heads (that's what she said) that I'm happy with. But with regards to @DeathBeforeDismount 's comment...while a bit crass, it holds merit. I prefer the ball heads to the anvil mounts myself though but that's entirely personal preference at that point and not what is being asked either.

The remedies for the Salmon River The ARCA rails are excellent. Despite owning both a Crux and an RRS, I don't particularly favor one over the other.

No. All made in Denmark. Only thing I don't know about is the carbon tubes. But all the aluminum machining, assembly, and QC is done in 1 place.

The one I got to play with was nicely done. It also has the ability to be taken apart and you can run the legs inverted or normal.

We were comparing it to several RRS and 2vets and nobody could feel a difference. I have some RRS stuff, and honestly the reason I haven't bought more is the ability to find stuff in stock. Half the stuff I want nobody has, the other half is only available in stock direct and their shipping is insane.

Doubt it’s “the best”, but I’m very happy with my new BOG Infinite Carbon. Very light, and very strong, I think rated up to 55 lbs. The factory ball head and saddle are pretty nice, too. But I could see a possible RRS or TwoVets/Area 419 ball head swap in the future, if I really wanted to have the best/smoothest on the market.

RRS Tripods ship free directly from RRS. Even their $145 micro ball head ships free. Shipping for some of their sub $100 plates or t-shirts is pricey though.

An arca adapter for my ckye pod was $30 shipping... On a 4oz $150 part. But it was either pay it or not have one (yes, I have always checked the camera stores).

They may have changed it after a similar thread in the pit about their shipping prices.
