Adding flush cups to boyds

Looking for ideas to add a side mounted QD sling attachments to a boyds tactical stock.

Not sure if I should just sand down the forend flare to make it flat enough to install a flush cup, or maybe do something like a NV tri-rail mount that inlets around the barrel and stick a qd mount to the rail. Seems excessive for a $180 stock.

It doesn't need to be flat, when I added flush cups to a wood Ruger 10/22 stock I used a 1/2" forstner bit in my drill press and then threaded the flush cup in using some JB Weld, easy peasy.

If you get the flush cups that have an external thread on them (I think it was 9/16-18), you can drill and tap a hole in the stock for the flush cup. Then, apply Dev Con or JB Weld to the threads and screw the flush cup in. It doesn't need to be flat and I also leave my flush cups just a touch (approx 1/16 inch) proud of the stock surface.
