Practiscore

Beats doom scrolling FB trying to find a match, but yeah it’s not awesome.

Honestly, I haven’t had any complaints beyond the giant Sig banner at the top with the “find a match” button that always tricks me in to pressing it instead of using the filters beneath it.

I imagine part of the issue is how Practiscore is (or isn't) funded. Do they rely entirely on donations? Just about everything can be improved after throwing enough time and money at it but I always assumed it was someone's passion project rather than a business. If I'm wrong then that's ok too and wouldn't mind being corrected, just rather have good info is all.

There's a guy local here that designed a new app for live scoring. Should be releasing it soon. I believe we are using it at next week's match

Will post more when it's available

Edit..

It's live.

Called "impact scoring"

Been used at a bunch of matches up north and works.

Impactscoring.net
It’s out.

Can’t there be a more poorly designed and not updated website ?

Frank should buy it and fix it.

Seriously it’s awful to search or use or do anything there. And I donate money each time I sign up for a match. Must go to hookers it sure isn’t going to fix the site
It works just fine if you have half a brain.

I have zero issues finding clubs with matches in the sports that I care about. In fact, they pop up in my tocalendar automatically.
You should try to be a match director and run a match on it before you gush all over their capabilities. I’m sure that it works fine for you as a shooter.

As mentioned, their site leaves much to be desired, though I too can make it work. A good site would give me a much better MD user interface and not have to make me open three sessions at one time to create and manage a match.

I know every USPSA MD in western Ohio. I'll ask them what they think.

there's a (presumably, good) reason that thousands of matches use practiscore. as a shooter, way easier to sign up, squad, and get scores quickly. presumably easier for MD's also as otherwise, all these matches wouldn't be on Practiscore. like anything else, if it isn't good enough for you, create a better mousetrap.

Being a former match director, I have only one thing to say…

It’s not nice to fuck with the match director.

Its a bitch of a job but someone has to do it or it wouldn’t get done And you simply cannot believe how much time and effort it takes to even put on a simple 8 or 10 round, one day match.

Practiscore is hot garbage for an app.

I guess its better than nothing, but its interface and UX is stunningly bad.
I don't know- I guess I see it differently. Is Practiscore the best app in the world from a user interface perspective? Probably not. But as I mentioned previously, I don't think that they're exactly rolling in the cash, I don't think they have a staff (nor could afford one) to address things, I honestly think this is a passion project for one person and that ended up being the best option available for all walks of life in the competitive shooting sports.

Let's just pretend for a minute that I'm right in my assessment. Just here in SH, you have a vocal group of competitors that love to shit on Practisocre, then multiply the same sentiment across 2 gun, 3 gun, steel challenge, etc. Guess what, they're all using Practiscore (even if it is hot garbage) because only one person/group stepped up to make this available across the shooting sports competitors. And, here's another thing to think about, they made it free to everyone and only asked for donations to keep the lights on... and the gratitude that they got from this passion project was 'this shit sucks'.

Just something to think about.

I can’t disagree that we all use it because it’s what is available. I’m also not shitting on the application, despite those who only think in black or white might believe. I was pointing out, as a constructive criticism, that from a PRS MD perspective, it is really not as helpful nor intuitive to use as are so many good internet sites.

If constructive criticism is now being considered verboten because some people might get their panties all bunched up, then I guess there’s more wokeness here than many like to believe.

Also, I believe that your premise about it being a poor lonely soul not making any money with no staff is very much off the mark. Even if that does give you all the warm feels that you might prefer. Look at the sight.

Every page is covered with huge banner ads. I know of a few MDs that all donate $1/ person per match every time automatically as support. And, I almost forgot, they have a staff.

I would gladly trade my retirement income for what they pull in every year.

That's a more than fair assessment. I could admittedly be completely off base with my assumption that it's a passion project and in reality be a much larger operation than I give them credit for. In which case the criticisms offered are indeed valid.
