Got hit with a scam. Don’t deal with said individual:

Out $600 and lesson learned. The amount of scammers who messaged me on my “WTB” listing was eye opening. I will no longer do transactions on here.

I did my due diligence and everything checked out including IP address.

Be cautious forum members

It would be nice if we could lock all commenting on PX ads (limited to only OP). Doesn’t help with WTB ads, but For Sales ads, it would eliminate a lot of scamming.

WTB adds have been the go to for scammers here. No matter how many times frank or other members here have warned against them people still get had

If you do a WTB add only deal with well established members.

Aside from people copying other screen names with slight changes or sending a pm to buyers of someone else’s sale the WTB is the most common method of targeting people here

There’s a lot of good members here. I’ve probably done $30,000+ in transactions here. You just have to deal with known members and do your due diligence

I don’t disagree. The item I wanted was out of stock from the manufacturer and I wanted to test one out so I did the WTB post.

It might be worth it to some to spend time vetting a seller before buying an item but with as prevalent and convincing as they have become, “the juice isn’t worth the squeeze” like it maybe once was.

Frank laughs at us because we keep identifying scammers like they are an individual person. He has repeatedly said these are organized international crime syndicates with entire departments of clerical workers and a name means nothing.

Have they been able to fake feedback yet? I’ve been going through previous posts to see if the seller has history. But if an entire profile can get hacked we are screwed.
I suppose adding to use PayPal commercial sales and be willing to pay the associated fees could help. Would also weed out the scanners since they’ll only use methods with no guarantee of goods received.

Definitely photoshop on the paper note. But, hindsight is 20/20

I had someone try to pull the same trick on another forum but luckily caught it and confirmed with a reverse image search on Google. The scammers love to steal images and it’s a steadfast way to catch them.
