Looking to throw a lpvo on my MWS and pretty sure I have it narrowed down to these 2.

Sr5 reticle on the Vudu and the DMX on the nx8.

Anyone used both of these and have a comparison? Both are same price point and you can get the vudu for significantly less right now. Glass, illumination, actual useable magnification max?

Do they both suck enough it might be worth saving a bit more and getting a used atacr 1-8?

IMO the vudu 1-10 sucks. The reticle is too fine to quickly pick up at 1x, so it fails the basic purpose of running an LPVO. The illumination is also not daylight bright. Finally, the eyebox is pretty tight at 10x (probably true of any 1-10).

Running up drills and transition drills with my 2.5-10 glx vs my buddies vudu, I had the same time and better hits with my glx at 2.5x vs the vudu at 1x. The glx is also far far superior for precision work, and they weigh nearly the same.

I have been trying the NX8 1-8 w/DMX. Not nearly as much time behind it as the G3 1-10 but it’s a solid scope.

My Son I Law likes EOTechs on his work guns. The big round reticle works for him so I pointed him toward the EoTech. At the end of the day, none of these have a reticle worth a shit at 1-4x.

IMO, we are splitting hairs with most of these LPVOs. They’re all so fucking close if it wasn’t for the reticle and price, a guy would be hard pressed to tell the difference while drilling or competing.

I own multiples of both plus a few.
Of the ones mentioned above: NX8 if weight and size matter on your MWS. Eotech SR5 if weight/size doesn’t matter as much.
Keep in mind there are slight variations in glass scope to scope within same model.
    Differences:
NX8 has a much smaller window with much thicker scope edge when looking through the scope. It does have a very bright dot. Which is great for 1x shooting.
Glass is a little brighter on the Eotech very similar to the Vortex.
Eotech doesn’t have daylight bright reticle but reticle is usable at 1x without illumination.
Vortex reticle unusable for anything until about 4x without illumination. Illumination is very good though.

I haven't tried the nx8 but I do have a plxc and I really like it. I think the glass is excellent and the illumination is good, and I actually like the acss reticle.

So far I've only taken it out to 200 yards but it works great there. At 1x it can be hard to find the view through the scope while moving, but once I get stopped at a barrier or shooting position it pops into focus right away. I run it with the unity mount so it's a little more natural height.

I've read so much about how disappointing the nx8 is, and I've read a lot about how far above its weight class the plxc punches. At least for me, I would go plxc or save up for a used atacr.

I was in the same place - trying to decide between a new plxc or a used atacr and ended up going with the plxc. I'm pretty happy with my choices.

I have a Vudu 1-10, Vudu 1-8, and an ATACR 1-8. My home range goes out to 700 yds.

The Vudus are excellent scopes, in my opinion. They are not perfect. The eyebox on max mag is tight. The turrets could be better, but they aren’t bad. Glass is very good. The SR5 reticle is very user-friendly. It could have one more brightness setting on the high side. The center dot is pretty fine on the 1x but the circle is so pronounced it makes up for it. I really enjoy using it on 1x with the illumination on.

I live near Vortex, and have toured their facility on a professional level. I don’t and won’t own any Vortex scopes.

I looked at the vudu when I was looking for a scope for my dmr. I ended up going with the plxc but I looked at a new vudu and a used atacr.

How does the vudu stack with your nf 1-8x ?

The ATACR is better than the Vudu in every way except the turrets and the thickness of the housing in your view. The elevation turret on the Vudu is much easier to use and read quickly, in my experience. I also prefer the locking to the capped. But YMMV.

If money is an issue, I would consider the Vudu a great alternative to the ATACR.
Let’s just say I have no thought of trading out the Vudu. I bought it after looking through a Razor G3.
