I really like the stock overall, but don't like how the butt sitts on a bag in prone.
I'm considering cutting a little off the bottom to create a bit of a flat area to interface better with a bag.

Can anyone give me a reason not to do this?

If you do this yourself it's probably going to look like shit and you're going to regret it shortly after. If you choose to pursue such an endeavor then I would send it to a professional that's done stock mods before like Joe Ducos, jducos here on the Hide

Time, expense, it may look like shit (pending who does the job) and probably won’t make a difference. I’ve found that an HTG sits as well on a bag as an A3 or A4 does.

You have no faith in me at all - assuming it would probably look like shit. :) I'm not the best, but I did turn this:

And it looked better oonce I got it painted.

Be cheaper/less frustrating to try other bags. Cut the stock in an f’d up way, makes it harder to sell. Don't like a bag, easy sell…

I shoot a lot of angled stocks like that.
(Also shoot several A5s and a Sentinel)

Tab gear rear bag. Just. Flat. Works.

I have tried the “bigger bag = more stable” thing people say and it does not work for me.

Properly adjusted height front rest (bipod or pack) and GTG with easy control over the rifle.

I have zero formal training other than reading and a few precious vids, so take my word for what you paid for it.

In my seven decades on the planet, I’ve found at least one line from one of Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry movies to be a truism in many instances. “ A man’s got to know his limitations. “. Of course, discerning said limitations requires a modicum of both wisdom and experience. Put another way, sometimes letting someone do it who knows what the hell they’re doing is the wisest course of action.

Yeah I have used lots of different bags including big heavy fill Gamechangers and find the small Tab Gear with lightweight fill just works the best. It's size makes it easy to manipulate and it holds the shape you want it to with a light squeeze.
