fucking love the shootout. it’s my favorite out of all of them. i use and carry it everyday. ive sold most of the knives in the pic after using them and realizing they suck for various reasons. i also like the BM phaeton (4th up from bottom) as well as far as using it, but it fails to fire 20% of the time so it just sits in my trucks center console.
I have just a few folders from ZT and Benchmade but I really been digging fixed blades lately...
I’ve always wanted a fixed blade from Ban Tang, and I know I’ll eventually have a few with a Clinch Pick coming next

If I pull them all out at once for a group photo the lady friend in the house is gonna get really suspicious and angry. "It's the same one, I just put new scales on it." has been said more than a few times to hide the addiction. I usually rock a number of customized Spydercos in rotation, a couple Bark River, or some old TOPs that I have had for 20+ years.
I have a few more nice blades, but these are what I have on my IPad.
Scored this BM Bugout from Sportsmans Warehouse. I usually get all my knives from GPKNIVES because of price. However SW gave me a $30 gift cert which made it worth it. Carbon fiber and S90V. Super light and slim.
I've got an Emerson sheepdog spear point in micarta scales that I'm a fan of as a big, folding edc.
some of the knives i covet highly and they will never cut anything more than a sammich….
i wish i had kept my other blackwood that i used as a working knife, who woulda thought they would be so expensive now.
the medford blade edge was not what i was wanting, its razor thin and i feel like it would get trashed too easy. i wanted to use it for EDC.

The same friend as in my other post gave me another knife, the push dagger, for my birthday this year. I had it on me when I clicked on this thread today.
I got tired of grabbing my wife's keyfob by accident, instead of mine because they are similar, so I bought these cheap little keychain knives for both my fobs. No mistaking them now.
2 years ago my wife got me the folder in the lowest photo for Christmas. I also had it on me right now.

Not high quality or expensive which I prefer for carry because I managed to lose a couple $150 knives throughout the years. Next thing I knew they were gone. They just came loose when I bent over and didn't hear them fall down. Another I found under the seat of my truck.
I'm thinking I should try a smaller fixed blade in a sheath for better retention. I watched hours of videos of the 2024 blade show to get ideas.
A desire for many years was trying out a OTF so at the local GS last Friday was a small Cobratec and thought I'd try it out because I hadn't owned a OTF before. That was a mistake because after about 60 actuation's the blade quit coming out. LSS, after 2 trips back there the store is sending the knife back to the Co and requesting a new one and will refund my money or I can keep it. I'm taking the money back. I didn't really intend to use it any more than the novelty aspect and light use but an auto should at least work, right?! I'll revisit getting a higher end OTF at some point down the road.
That got me thinking, hmm, maybe it's time for a higher quality fixed blade working knife to EDC.....
It occurred to me that I had two types of fixed blade knives, somewhat expensive collector knives that I won't actually use, and cheapies that I carry sometimes like when I'm riding in the FS, but these don't hold an edge well, or not for me to EDC because of large size, and definitely not working knives I'll be cutting with. Most of the inexpensive knives were gifts as I mentioned earlier, and appreciated, but ones I wouldn't have bought if involved in the decision.
So went investigating what was out there as well as the different steel qualities and attributes. After hours of research I narrowed it down to Tkell, White River, Bradford, and a few others. Not being sure how I'd feel about knife size, how the grip shape felt, and sheath's, etc, I thought maybe I should search in my state first to handle some knives. Then I found Dawson Knives and judging on appearence I liked them more than the other brands. Also only a 80 minute drive away. Also fellow Christians! So I went there yesterday and Violet was kind enough to go back to the shop(they don't have a showroom as it's a manufactering facility) to get the different knives, finishes, and handles. It was a great experience finding what suited me best "in hand"!
Super impressed I bought this G2 Smuggler with CPM 3V and preordered their new Steadfast in Magnacut in the same finish and handle.
The stove is very small Cubic Grizzly, and is in the corner of our kitchen. I build the fire and my wife makes the coffee, then we enjoy the warmth together which is our winter morning start.

Grabed a few new knives as of late..
A Woods Nightfighter at the Veterans day event at my LGS, A Half face Disaster Jr. via Sig (comissioned for the release of the P226 Reserve Series), and a Roddy damascus skinner. Last one isnt mine. The owner of my company has been hinting at wanting a nice skinner so...

After experimenting with the various ways to carry my sheath I decided the Ulticlip attached to the sheath and mounted on/in my left front pocket suited me best for EDC. Only the top inch of the handle sticks up out of the pocket and the knife stays in the sheath well. Also there's still room in this pocket for my wallet or keys but I changed the place I put those. I don't even feel the knife is on me so that worked out much better than I thought it would because this knife isn't exactly small.
Last weekend it was time to do some kitchen knife sharpening so I got my Wicked Edge sharpener out. When finished with them I duplicated the 20 degree bevel and sharpened the new Dawson Smuggler from 600 grit stone going finer and finer down to 1600 grit then finishing with 5 micron diamond paste on strop. It came out sharper than I think I've turned out any knife yet.
I used the Smuggler today to cut the tip off a plastic container of sealant for my bike. I usually use a razor knife that I keep in my work pants for this task but I had my regular pants on. I'm accustomed to the small amount of force it takes to do this with the razor since this is my 3rd bottle and the Smuggler went through the tip so fast and with so little resistance I cut my thumb enough to have to apply liquid bandaide to stop the bleeding. So I need to double down on my attention for next time I use the Smuggler for anything.
