Absolute minimum Russia would take if they were hard pressed would be up to the seversky-Donets river as it is one of the few pieces of terrain that breaks up the steppe south of Moscow, ie the only real viable route of invasion for a foreign force / existent level threat type fears.
We are already past this point in some places and it is doubtful Ukraine will ever come close to retaking that amount of lost land so we'll move on.

There is clear divide if you look at voting picture from before 2014 and it also goes roughly on natural resources line (some of the oldest rock formations are on this line - the Dnieper flow draws it sort of). But key point which all of you (don’t understand why) dismiss is Russia needs a buffer zone that gives them reaction time in case of surprise nuclear attack. So while much is unclear what is crystal clear is there will be no NATO forces or equipment of ballistic kind on territory of current Ukraine(as even latter is unclear if it remains). How this will happen who knows probably noone yet but in a few months Ukraine will have no options but capitulate. Its West that is without time and EU in particular as all US needs to do is “pay your FAIR share” msg to EU. The phrase that those sick mofos always like to use when taxing the shit out of people. Once that happens its “pretend” game over as EU is naked as it gets and on the dissolution path which will only be sped up by Eukraine escapade and future costs.
PS: Also Trump needs to survive until thr January for starters and that aint given as wanna be masters wont quit trying. Such is democracy in promised land i just hope there are still enough patriots in SS and other services that clean up is possible otherwise i think global nuclear exchange is in the books with lots of local “gestapo” style democracy convincing before that.

Latvia is already in NATO and pretty much the same distance from Moscow, eastern Ukraine is closer but that would be the Chernihiv/Sumy Oblasts which Russia has never talked about splitting off from Ukraine.

Also the Trump peace plan thats been floated around for the last two days is not coming from Trump or any one on his team. According to Reuters.

There are few things that would bring greater stability and peace to the world than the dissolution of NATO.
Not once in the history of NATO has it been used in defence of anything, it's purely been an aggressor.
