What appears to be a very light firing pin strike when closing the bolt on 25 CM AR10. Any advice?

Seekins SP10, Seekins BCG w/ JP HP bolt and matched HP firing pin. 205M primers and Alpha SRP brass x 2 firings.

Before and after racking into chamber via bolt catch release from mag.

In an ar the firing pin floats freely and just gets whacked by a hammer forward hard when the trigger is pulled.
So when the bolt slams closed chambering a round the pin naturally slams forward with it making a little dent. Thin weak primers can get set off in what’s called a slam fire. The thicker stronger primers with more anvil clearance are designed to mitigate the risks of a slam fire.

Yeah, this confirms what I thought because it’s worrisome to see the mark. I’ve certainly not noticed it on my other ARs. It’s a new bolt and pin from JP. Thanks.

Research the raison d' etre of the .mil spec primers (41/34/GMAR) etc IIRC... they all nexist specifically for "reasons"...

I appreciate it. I’m familiar with the 41 & 34 just didn’t think they were necessary unless potentially dropping the rifle on the butt. I’ve read arguments on here for and against. Frankly, never noticed the pin making a mark before by just dropping the BCG and really haven’t felt I needed them. Certainly considering it now.
I posted mainly to make sure there was another issue I might be overlooking. Thanks.
