I have a vudoo action in a MDT Elite chassis and I cannot for the life of me get the L3i billet mag to feed smoothly

any help would be appreciated

thank youu

my normal vudoo mags feed flawlessly, it looks as if the bullet it too much of an angle and it wants to jam inside the chamber

I had to file a radius on the front of my mag to allow for clearance. If you look at your Vudoo mags and compare you will see. Why L3i isn't machining this in I dont know. Once I filed to match my factory Vudoo mag they feed really well.

So I did that as well and still won’t Feed like a vudoo mag another thing I noticed was the feed ramp of the L3i is a little steeper then the vudoo but a lot of people are having good luck with this mag I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong and I’ve spent a lot of time adjusting and filing and still having feed issues

Few questions:

What ammo are you having trouble with?

Are the screws on the side that hold the mag together tight?

If you put pressure on the bottom of the mag, does it feed? Only apply upward presssure, not front or back

SK rifle match

It feeds when I apply upward pressure but it’s a force and ruining the bullet

I am using lapua center x and sk long range match

I have tried to get them running in an acc elite and a mpa matrix pro ii. Getting closer after lots of fiddling. I have found they run more reliably if I down load them to 14 rounds. Almost as though they are over sprung and and need to break in.

I have also found that if I adjust them to the point there is no vertical play then they tend to jam the bullet into the top of the chamber and fail to feed. They need just a little vertical play to feed right. I tried placing spacers on top of mags but that didn’t help feed issue and may have made worse. They just need some vertical play.

Problem with the vertical play is if you accidentally put upward pressure on bottom front edge of mag, like say on a rooftop, you will get a jam fest. Avoid that at all costs. Other shooters I chatted with about them said they feed great, I mentioned upward presssure issue and they said, “well except when you do that, don’t do that” 🤣

Final thing I have found is a trick I learned with vudoo al mags. Once loaded, turn at a 45 degree angle with top of mag down, pull feed button to bottom and tap the rim of the top case a few times. This seems to realign the ammo in case you weren’t hyper careful loading it and seems to reduce even further any rim lock issues.

I reached out to l3i and was basically told I didn’t know what I was doing and should go watch jason nedveds video on setup. Had already watched several times before I asked for help.

At this point I am running them in practice and continuing to tune them until I can get through a 2-300 round practice session with no misfeeds. Right now averaging about one every 70-80 rounds or so…. Vudoo polymers run flawless even with extenders as long as I load carefully to prevent rimlock

Thanks for the feed back and that video doesn’t rlly show anything lol, at least it doesn’t show details of chassis and magazine adjustment. It does seem the magazine is very finicky but also it does seem there’s a way of setting up the mag so it runs perfectly cause I have notice in recent YouTube videos of 22 shoots a lot of people are running L3i mags and it’s not like there multiple 22 rifles out there you have Rimx and Vudoo. I just don’t know the secret lol and it seems like your getting close @ChrisKinsman

Having same issue, round does not line-up with the chamber so it won’t completely seat on the bolt head. Stock Vudoo mags feed fine. Extractors look good, clean bolt, suspect a weak spring in the Stinger mags not pushing the round up with enough pressure to seat, the first round won’t seat, then a few rounds feed ok, and the final few rounds has same issue. Manners TCS stock, SK RM, SK LR, Eley Match, Center-X, Lapua LR ammo.

Interesting. It doesn't look like the magazine spring is depressed at all in that picture. Try giving Leon a call at L3I. I talked to him at nationals about an issue similar to this and he said they were working on stronger springs because some people have stronger tensioner springs than others and could have this issue.

Yup I gave up on the L3I stinger mag for now. I was ruining way too many bullets trying to get it to feed without denting the tip. This is on my Vudoo. I must be an unlucky SOB because I could never get any L3I mag to feed 100%. Even the Elite mag I have has issues. I’ve relegated both mags to plinking duties when I’m shooting crap ammo.

I wasn’t getting dents, but instead the chamber was shaving off the side of the bullet. The breech looked like it had lint balls in it…lead lint.

Yup exactly I ruined about 30 rounds trying to feed I’m getting ready to just sell all my L3i mags the standard vudoo mags work the best for me
