Good evening all.

I'm looking for suggestions on a ballistic helmet. The key here is that I'd like it to be $600 or less all told. I've looked at and am leaning towards a PGD high cut but I'm open to other options, including an ACH or similar and having it trimmed.

What have y'all got for me?

Is this for nods, or do you plan on getting shot in the head?

If you plan on getting shot in the head, my first issue I’d bring up is are those cheap helmets (especially if coming from overseas) really rated for what they say they are rated for….idk.

Search the thread by The Horta.

He tried a bunch of them.

There was a cheaper one in there that actually works pretty good

It's for NODs. I'm already looking at a bump helmet, I'm just also considering a ballistic option just 'cause.

And no, getting shot in the head isn't the plan. Besides, most helmets don't really survive a direct shot to the dome anyway. They're intended for glancing hits, shrapnel and debris, and things whacking you in the noggin. So I wouldn't mind that modicum of protection too.

@powdahound76 I shall do so. In fact I think that's where I got turned on to the PGD helmet to begin with!

"$600 or less all told" can get you a ballistic helmet, but no accessories, upgrades or other. Ops-Core and Team Wendy are out of your price range by a good bit. If you are ok with more of a kevlar style helmet, there is this from Team Wendy.

Team Wendy® EPIC™ Responder Ballistic

I know that some do not like Hard Head Veterans, but you can get bump helmet style ballistic helmet for about $600.

I’m aware. I’m just saying, I don’t know if I trust the certain brands to give you that ballistic rating, due to resins, or other materials or manufacturing procedures.

If you find the Horta thread, this is where it would send you.

The good things were said about the Denmark ones, but they have gone up about $200 since that thread was made. Prior to Biden being in office.

I use an Opscore bump helmet for nods, works great.
