Putin already had his plans to expand the Russian territory to its “rightful” place as he saw, looking at the history of the Russian Empire and Soviet times. He was going to invade Georgia and Ukraine regardless of what anyone did in the west. One of his senior foreign ministry secretaries told us this in the early 2000s before he was silenced. The conversation was about Finland joining NATO at the time (2005-2007), which I was having with a Finnish military guy who had married into a Russian family, that just happened to have these connections inside the Russian Foreign Ministry. My Finnish friend died a few years later.
The crap about the US pushing Putin into invading Ukraine is really Russian propaganda, nothing more. There are no 2-ways about it, because these things were already planned way in advance. Putin needed to revitalize the Russian military though. He truly envied what he saw the US do in Desert Storm, where we brutally skull-crushed the 4th largest army in the world, which was mainly comprised of later-model Russian and Soviet systems. His Ratnik initiative, assisted by the freaking Germans, went into effect once he got Russian energy on its feet for several years.
The plan for Ukraine was stacked totally in his favor, with strategic encirclement and force numerical superiority of 7:1. If I was standing around the Russian general staff at the massive planning cell table, looking at the map and listening to them saying, “There’s no way we won’t be successful here.”, I would have totally been on-board with that from a strict planning and strategy perspective.

If we were making a movie or documentary about this, and started from 1989 through Jan 2022, the events from Feb 2022-present would not make any sense at all to us. Because we are living through it, it’s extremely difficult to see context and have clarity.

The problem is there’s been a lot of Russian trolling and disinformation being posted throughout the Internet. The primary consumer of this this information is the American public, and the attempt is to get people to not support Ukraine in any capacity.
Frankly, I’m not a huge Ukraine supporter in and of itself… But given the fact that the man has shown that he is perfectly willing to invade a foreign country in an attempt to wage a war of conquest… So to speak… this means that he has no boundaries at all.
I am perfectly happy to let weapons and munitions blunt the military of Russia without costing us personnel. If he were to take over parts of Europe aside from Ukraine, it would not be to our benefit. Try as we might to live in a bubble, that’s not practical and not how the real world works. At least, in so far, as maintaining our economic superpower status. If you think things cant get worse for the United States from an economic standpoint, just wait until all of our allies are no longer our top-tier trading partners.

Biden’s role was to get Zelensky out of Kiev so that Ukraine would be headless.
That would have made the main operations of the SMO be measured in a few days as-planned, and subsequent resistance fighters policed-up over time and managed, like Russia does in Chechnya. They already had tons of moles woven throughout the Ukrainian MoD, so they had it set-up to lead false resistance movements and roll everybody up that way, like in Hungary in 1956 and Czechoslovakia in 1968. The Tsar tried to do that with the Bolsheviks in the late 1800s, by co-opting them, for example.
CIA played a lead role in those suppressions of post-war uprisings in Eastern Europe without the leadership at Langley even knowing what was going on, because so many Belorussians had joined the OSS and became OGs with pedigrees from the War when CIA was stood-up. They had the Nazi intelligence General Reinhardt Gehlen’s organization as well as leads in Eastern Europe (he was freaking head of West German BND). European Branch was filled with Soviet doubles turned or planted by the NKVD into the OSS.
In the West, people don’t fully grasp the fact that Russia has been at these kinds of dangerous games for 900 years, so subterfuge and running intelligence operations is at a level we still haven’t entered.
When Zelensky refused to get on the plane and asked for munitions instead, the Putin-Biden pact was faced with a dilemma. Remember that Biden WH did not immediately send any weapons, but instead waited to see Putin succeed. Same with the Europeans. Everyone thought it was a done-deal, Russia would mop-up Ukraine fairly quickly with such numerical superiority, and just plow through them.
As it became evident that Ukraine was a tougher nut to crack, and had some exceptional anti-armor and drone capabilities (much of which were sent to them by Trump with the Javelin and CLU sales), the European nations started finally sending older stock munitions and supplies. Their fear was that Putin was going to conquer Ukraine and then stage on the border to invade Poland next.
A massive win for Putin in Ukraine with a Desert-Storm like campaign would have sent shockwaves through Europe, with a sense that they could never really stand up to that kind of power. The Europeans know more-painfully than anyone how inept and under-funded their militaries have been since 1991, with stupid women running their parliaments and making most of the decisions on security.
This is one of the most overlooked aspects of this whole affair. Imagine Putin crushing Ukraine lightning-quick with his SMO, then annexing Moldova. Then more forces get staged in Kaliningrad and on the borders of Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia.
The "heroic Ukrainian theater Russian forces who successfully denazified Ukraine" would then expand out of Kiev westward into Lutsk and Lviv, with pre-coordinated "local welcomers" of the glorious Russian Army filmed for the propaganda campaign to show how Ukrainians really love their Russian brothers.
Then Putin would already be working on the weak links in the NATO alliance in Eastern Europe in Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and leaning on all the moles within the German government to begin talks of appeasement and peace, as Putin laughed among his general staff. Remember that he was stationed in East Germany running assets in the Cold War, so that place is his baby from an intel perspective.
That was the plan. The combination of training, equipping Ukraine with hundreds of millions dollars worth of Javelins under Trump, and their will to remain independent created an unforeseen obstacle that neither Putin nor all of the defense experts considered. That and the absolute incompetence of the Russian military spelled disaster as it all unfolded.
The whole thing blew-up in Putin’s face, leaving Biden looking weak and inept if he didn’t join the Europeans in authorizing transfers of US old stock munitions and vehicles, which the Biden WH has really slow-rolled all along.

Russian occupying Eastern Europe again certainly would affect our lives dramatically, and the lives of hundreds of millions of people there, triggering a new war somewhere between the Cold War and WWII or worse, and the US would be fully-engaged in it from an industrial standpoint at a minimum, along with being the recipient of millions of European refugees.
Russia sees the US as big thorn in their side, preventing them from territorial expansion again. We drift from an annoyance to a dilemma to them on-and-off, depending on the time of day.
The problem for people in the US who have become less and less educated about basic geography, let alone world history, is that they don’t see this unfolding as it is before them, and after wasting hundreds of billions of dollars in Afghanistan and Iraq, have become weary of war or what it takes to prevent it from escalating in Europe.
Democrats have normally been the anti-defense, anti-war party, even though their Presidents beg Congress to get us into war, or conduct false flags like Johnson did with Gulf of Tonkin.

Everything I’m saying is quite opposite of what we were told during the Cold War. Nobody was discussing how the Soviets penetrated and co-opted the CIA, for example. There was marginalized talk about how the Soviets co-opted American institutions, but anyone discussing it was called a conspiracy theorist or McCarthyist.
I’m telling you that from within Putin’s Foreign Ministry, the plan was well-known among the secretaries already in the early 2000s that Russia would expand territorially. Everyone in the West (except the Eastern Europeans), was putting their heads in the sand and hoping all would be unicorn farts and fairy dust, “It’s the end of history!” they said.
The main push now for Russia is convince war-weary Americans to just contract into some form of isolationism, then amplify that message to the Europeans that America isn’t going to help you so you might as well give up. Their main effort is demoralization.

I think it’s becoming clear that if there isn’t real awareness and accuracy about what has been going on there, it’s best to really go back into a research mode, not positing any ideas about policy. Our own policy-makers don’t know half the stuff I’m talking about, because they mostly went to Harvard (State Dept) and took poli-sci classes from Marxists.
I’ve watched lectures from older Democrat Marxist professors in the US with all the pedigrees who even have visited Russia enough to convince policy-makers they knew what they were talking about, and they simply don’t understand Russia or are working for them. They make so many basic mistakes in their analyses, yet have huge followings of people swallowing their messaging.
It’s very illuminating when you see young conservatives and libertarians repeat the same things the old Democrat marxist professors insist are true about Russia. That should be your wake-up call right there.

In Iraq and Afghanistan, we know with absolute certainty that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iran provided weapons and funding to the Arabs. There were very small contingets of Russian Muslims that answered the call for jihad and entered the fight independently, but there is zero evidence to suggest that the Russian government did anything more than infest social media with Troll farms. We are in agreement that the US should not engage in preemptive military operations against Russia. Nowhere have I advocated for the US to do such a thing. My perspective doesn’t fit into any of the narratives that have been created since 2014, because I was watching all of this stuff unfold dating back decades prior to the Soviet Collapse. My family was involved technical analysis of critical Soviet weapon systems in the 1970s, then later with Nunn-Lugar with the base exchange program (not the nuclear non-proliferation, though we gained some very interesting insights into the state of Soviet nuclear forces capabilities). That was in the early 1990s.
However, Russia was involved in providing technical assistance to bad actors both in OEF and OIF. There is a minority report in DIA that was ignored, which showed how the Chinese used the Pakistani ISI to glove the Muslim Botherhood, who then used their terrorist wing of Al Qaeda to do the 9/11 attacks. SOCOM/ABLE DANGER showed that the corrupted US Intel Community knew about the plot beforehand, so ABLE DANGER was shut down. ABLE DANGER had already connected Mohammed Atta to Ali Mohamed and the Bin Laden network. ABLE DANGER was formed as a cooperation between elements in the SOF Community, because they were used to getting such bad intel from the usual suspects in the IC (namely CIA), so they realized that all the assets we had within DoD were far superior to the Langley folks, and pursued the anti-terrorism mission set using DoD and OSINT electronic searches of databases, especially against bad actors operating within the US.
The strategic objective of China and Russia post-Desert Storm was to distract the US from Europe and the Pacific while both nations could re-build and modernize their woefully-lacking militaries and industries. China and Russia used the Clinton White House in different ways to accomplish those objectives:

Since the CCP financed both of Clinton’t campaigns in 1992 and 1996 with illegal foreign contributions laundered through the Riady network and DNC (China campaign finance gate), they were owed massive transfers of US defense technology and samples. Dutifully, Clinton allowed Chinese foreign intelligence officers access to scores of US military installations, brokered deals between US defense aerospace companies and China, transferred our aircraft assembly line operations and project management to them, transferred some of our ballistic missile guidance technology from Loral Space Systems, and our advanced Radio communications and encryption technology from Motorola. Chicom spies were given access to Dept of Energy nuclear facilities, were given a VIP tour of the B-2 Combined Test Force at Edwards AFB, to include cockpit access, and God only knows what else.
China put a lot of officials in the Clinton Admin and seeded the government with as many spies and moles as possible, with emphasis on ballistic missiles, nukes, strategic bombers, submarines, gas turbine jet engines, missiles, guidance systems, comms, electronics, and US military hardware that was obviously superior to the copies of Russian trash they were used to be fed.

I was in Estonia at the time having just finished OC’ing for ERNA Raid. As soon as that happened, I became more hyper-focused on Ukraine, because it only made sense that was going to be a big strategic objective for Putin.

That’s a huge chunk of a $27,720,700m economy ($27.7 Trillion US GDP in 2023).

The only problem with leaving is then you’d be a victim of American foreign policy…there has literally been no logical reason for Russia to be our enemy since 1991. It’s us who haven’t come to terms with reality still.
There are many of us who came to terms that Russia hasn't truly been an enemy or threat for 30 years. However, the MIC convinces the higher ups in the military that they need the newest latest weapon systems. Then the military gets Congress ( which many of are being owned by the MIC) to authorize spending for the new weapons. Everyone makes money except for the taxpayer who gets stuck with the tab.
I don’t fit into that pigeon hole. I’m only talking ground truth, and I don’t represent anyone. These are my own personal observations covering decades with access to specific topics that are important to see what is really going on.
Ukraine has already been using Block I ATACMs (made from 1997-2003) to interdict Russian columns and other important targets as of last year (2023). They’ve had plainclothes operatives in Russia to provide targeting, plus they can buy time-sensitive satellite imagery from private sources that have covered the war extensively. You don’t need US personnel to operate HIMARS and ATACMs. There are at least 8 different variants of ATACMs, and the US Army stopped buying them in 2007. Existing inventory was put into SLEP (Service Life Extension Program) while waiting for the new LRSM and PrSM. There is a laundry list of foreign users who have bought and continue to order ATACMs, with many outstanding orders for Australia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Morocco.
I’m also part of the People in the US who don’t want any of this crap going down. Biggest contributing factor to allowing this was when Clinton disarmed Ukraine of their nukes in the 1990s under Nunn-Lugar. A lot of people would have been uncomfortable with Ukraine maintaining a nuclear capability, but I then point to the Indians and Pakistanis with nukes and sort of laugh, but it isn’t funny.

The Euro consortium of aircraft manufacturers was formed so each nation wouldn’t need to invest in their own individual aircraft anymore, or rely on US exports. Now they’re back to relying on US exports as their legacy fleet of 4th Gen fighters expires in relevance and airframe life.
