I’m going to re-barrel my R700 with either a proof research or bartlein carbon wrapped. Is there anything real difference between this two or are they both pretty much the same in their quality?

Thanks

Shots 2-6 out of my 6mm Bartlein CF barrel. I’m a believer.

Who chambers the barrel will have a greater impact than which of those two barrels you buy.

I’ve always shot Bartlein and will continue to because of their high quality and extremely awesome customer support.

My one proof barrel though, shoots just as well.

Both are legitimate .3xx moa barrels

My proof carbon shoot the same as my carbon barlein. The finish on the proofs are better then the bartlein. After owning a few proof carbon and a carbon barlein. I'll buy another proof before I buy another bartlein for the same money.

Both Proof Research and Bartlein are top-notch in terms of quality. Proof Research barrels are known for being lightweight and durable, while Bartlein barrels are praised for their precision and consistency. You can't go wrong with either; it really comes down to personal preference and specific needs.

If you are talking about carbon specifically. Bartlein is playing catch up to proof as far as the resin technology goes. Search around a little.

Bartlein was having delamination issues. And said not to heat them up over 300° or something like that. You would have to find the emails from bartlein that have been posted.

Did you get to use the 10% off code with that deal also. I paid less than that a week ago with the 10%off code.
I did not know their was a 10% off code😢
This!! In my opinion , who chambers the barrel is most important part of a build.
I have/used regular Bartlein barrels and they shoot great.
Only carbon fiber barrel I've used is a Proof Carbon chambered in 300PRC, shoots great.
well John Beanland (Beanland Rifles) gets all of my rifles, this will be number 4 sent to him, so I should be good in the chambering department

Bartlein all the way. I’ve heard of issues with Proof now and then but never Bartlein. Bartlein barrels have never let me down.
Both are good barrels. A while back Proof had a few random lemons popping up that were rectified. It was many less than you read about, because people love to repeat the same stories all over the internet, so it seems like many more than actually were affected.

New Proof CF here... Zero issues, shoots great, bore is super smooth when running brushes and patches, too. No tight spots.

I have carbon barrels from Bartlein and Proof. Both make absolute hammers and both have had a few turds in their lots. They make a LOT of barrels. There is bound to be one here and there. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either.

The proof however, is a fair bit lighter weight. I'd bet my 20" Bartlein m24 contour in 6.5mm bore weighs as much as my 24" Proof Sendero in .30 cal. So, if weight is the primary reason for you wanting a carbon wrapped barrel, Proof is the way to go between those 2 options.

The question is why are you paying for CF? If it's for weight savings, my experience has been that the Proofs are lighter in similar contours. I believe Bartlein leave more steel under the CF wrap. I once saw a picture of a Proof vs. a Bartlein CF crosscut that supported this idea, but can't find it. I am happy for someone with more expertise to prove me wrong, and this is no slam on Bartlein as they are top tier barrels.

Were it I, if weight were the primary concern, I would go proof. If you aren't concerned with weight, I would buy a steel Bartlein or Proof and be happy... BTW, I have owned several of each of these, and never been disappointed...

I have a Bartlein M24 contour 338 Lapua and it shoots amazingly well with any load.
It weighed a few ounces more than I was led to expect, but I have zero regrets.

I've shot a custom 7PRC and 300 Win Mag with Proof barrels and they also shot amazingly well.
Not any better than my Bartleins, but close enough that any differences were insignificant.

That being said, I simply have more confidence in Bartlein.
I purchased a Palma rifle from one of their founders when they were just starting out and I was given the opportunity to tour the shop.
I was VERY impressed with the shop and personnel!
Many years later, I've had them build a couple of rifles for me and will continue to use them exclusively as I have been completely satisfied with my interactions involving their management, sales, gunsmith, machinists, etc and the products that they have delivered.

Based on my personal experience, I would never talk someone out of a Proof, but I would talk them into a Bartlein!

Both have been good barrels, generally.
I'd recommend either. But the last two Bartlein barrels were not up to usual standards on internal barrel finish.
Never had that problem with Proof, but I run more Bartleins.

Proof had a few issues when they quit using McGowan and went to doing their own blanks.

That was quite a long time ago and I'd never worry about getting a bad one now.

Can't ever go wrong with Bartlien though.

I've had alot of good barts and kreiger in steel, but never had a bart carbon. Ive got exactly 1 proof carbon and 1 proof steel. The proofs have shot as good as my barts and were just as easy to find a load and clean up as quick.

I buy proof simply for ease of getting in stock barrels that’s can be shipped out quickly. You can get discount codes often and get carbon barrels for around $750-$800. Also installing them in my own shop with minimal tools makes it easy. My three proof barrels are awesome shooters and were bought for very reasonable prices.
