That's all well and good i reckon, but when it comes to syrup I much prefer real, all natural, locally cooked, 100% pure sugar cane syrup/molasses on my biscuits or flap jacks over that nasty azz artificial flavored chemical laced $h!t made with corn syrup any day.🤢🤢🤮🤮

In the off season when locally made cane syrup is hard to come by the store bought stuff will suffice, long as it doesn't contain corn syrup or any other chemical additives.

Wisconsin makes lots of maple syrup. Pretty much every brand we see in the store is from here. I know quite a few people that make their own. The entire northern third of the state is forest and Maple makes up a pretty good portion of the trees.

ETA: Wisconsin is the 4th largest producer after Vermont, New York, and Maine.

My mom bought me a bottle of real maple syrup that came in a beautiful glass container shaped like a maple leaf which I still have.

I have to admit, it was a step above anything else.

And they changed a local park on Lake Travis thats always been called Paleface Park to Pace Bend Park. They didn't want to offend any Comanches and Apaches that might still be raiding in the area.

Got that right. Eliminating the word coonhound was an over the top stupid *ss idea from overly sensitive lefties.
Had Black&Tan coonhounds a long time ago. Lot of good times doing that. Couple of good friends that had hounds too. Lot of ribbing and competitiveness between all. Life has spread us all apart across the country but now and then we still bring up and laugh at the good times we had running hounds.

I remember taking our hounds on weekend campout hunts. We rode horses and kept the finished or grown dogs on leads as we rode and let the pups run along loose.

The ranch we were on west of Austin is now a developement of multi million dollar mansions but if I had thought to take a cheap camera and gotten blk&white pics of those horses and dogs back then, I could be retired right now living off the book rights.

I knew we were living a dream life, but didn't have the sense to take pics. Those people that live there now have no clue.

We need to continue using the old established terms and not give a rat's ass about anyone who might take offense. That is what I do. And I admit, it is harder at certain jobs or interacting with some crowds in a job setting where doing so can affect your job, so among these crowds I am just cold and aloof and "listen far more than talk".

But outside of any professional setting? All fair game. At a store?

Them: "Hey, that term coon hounds is racist. You need to examine your language use and what terms are appropriate in this day and age".

Me: *Complete, absolute ignoring of their presence, continues chatting to whomever I was talking to*

Them: "Sir?" "Sir?" "Did you hear what I was saying?"

Me: "Oh you were talking to me? Didn't get it, but I'll get back to you later".

If they STILL do not get the memo like some idiots don't, and continue to try to get my attention, I'll be like: "WHOOPS, you went to voicemail and I deleted it because I don't really feel like spending the effort to listen"... Shut the fuck down just like that.

This goes over to the other thread about Obama trying to get conservatives to listen to libtards too. Can't make someone participate if they are not a willing participant. That is why cynics, stoics, "sigma guys" etc are impossible to gaslight or manipulate. Because we'd just shut down and walk out on you mid-convo if we lose interest with absolutely no regard to "manners" or your "feelings" or what not.

Pretty much the same here, lots of my old hunting areas are totally gone.
It would've been fantastic to have had iPhones for pics back then.
Remember guys that used mules to ride while running coonhounds. They were from Oklahoma and Missouri area as I recall. They said it was due to some of the big areas they ran hounds and about the distance between wooded sections. Few guys in Indiana and Illinois were doing the same. Also that they had several dogs because they'd only run a couple at a time when hunting using mules as they could wear out the dogs.

OMG!! That event is still going on!? 1981 I was 19 and went there with 2 other guys from near me. Must admit it was the farthest I'd ever been below the Mason//Dixon line. :ROFLMAO: It was quite a good time and learning experience.
