What 10.3/10.5 300 Blackout barrel would you choose? Would you put money into it?

For basically only HD would you put any money into a 10.3/10.5 300 Blackout barrel? I want to run a 9.3 Geissele MK8 rail so really a 10.3 barrel would be the best option.

I see a BA Hanson is offered in 10.3 and the price is sub $200. But I feel so dirty paying more for a rail than the barrel. Would you guys spend a little more to get a better barrel? I never plan to shoot it at distance really and it will just be suppressed (now that Trump is back in office) for my wife's HD gun.

So mainly 110-125gr supers and some subs just for fun.

Zero it at 50, or even at just 25 for subs and call it good.

Your use case for “across the room” engagement distance with subsonic ammo is the perfect fit for a suppressed SBR or pistol chambered in 300BLK. And a 10”(ish) barrel gets you a complete powder burn, plus a bit more length for a slightly longer hand guard that works better for controlling the firearm.

I say go for it.

I'm sure it will be fine.

My Hanson 11.5 5.56 barrel is more accurate than other mid priced lightweight barrels I have tried. Did some decent shooting on steel at 570M a few weeks ago. Maybe I just got lucky.

That barrel won't cycle subs without a can. It's practically useless. Wish I hadn't bought it. Gas port needs bored out from .085 to .105.

ETA: It is a ok shooter for supers, getting around an inch at ~130y.

Op, hope you don't mind me jumping in on your thread.. I am also building a 300blk and have a wilson combat 11.5 inch barrel on order. What's everyone's thoughts on 1:7 vs 1:8 in the 300blk?

I really can’t come up with a good reason to force subs without a can. I mean, they’re the ballistic equivalent of throwing a rock. And, without a can they are still LOUD.

Now, I’m saying this from the perspective of owning a 300BO that runs subs and supers, suppressed and unsuppressed, all without changing the gas setting… I would not call requiring a can for sub function to be a deal breaker in a 300 BO. It would be a real breaker in a 22lr…

Criterion makes an 8.5" and 10.5" Core series in 300BO. I have the 10.5", its a good shooter so far, both subs and supers.

I also have an 8.5" 300BO ballistic advantage and it shoots just fine, about to convert it to subs only with a short can.
