POF revolution 6.5 creedmoor - Yay or Nay

For some background all my AR style platforms are in 5.56, 300blk, 9mm, .22 and I have never really had the desire for a large frame AR platform until now and I don't know why but I just have an itch for a 6.5 gasser. Thinking it might be a nice multi purpose plinking and hunting rifle. Not looking to win any matches with it but I would like something that shoots MOA 5 shot groups @100 (pending I do my part)

I would like to keep this a budget gun as I am really not to sure how much ill shoot it so I am really looking at used Aero builds as there seem to be quite a few that pop up. But by chance a friend at works brother has a very lightly used POF revolution that he might be selling and the concept of this platform has sparked my interest. I did some quick googling (but we all know how that goes...) and there seem to be a lot of hit or miss reviews about these guns, specifically the barrel QAQC and lack of customer service.

I was wondering what others thoughts were on these rifles?

I’m a fan personally. I have the 20” Prescott and mine is a tack driver with 140 or heavier grain bullets. If you’re gonna suppress it you may have to play with springs and buffer weights. I haven’t had to use customer service but I’m the kinda guy that tinkers and tries to handle things myself.

I have a friend who bought the 6cm variant, and it has been solid for over a year. He uses it exclusively for predator hunting with a stand-alone thermal. His work is entirely inside of 300-400yds.

I have the Revolution 6.5 di. The gun has been awesome. It is sub MOA or MOA with Hornady match, even Hornady black ammo 140grain. There are no issues suppressed or unsuppressed. The occasional jam occurs with the 25rd mag and eld plastic tip bullets. I have over 3k rounds through it. The gun is one of my favorites.

The only downside : replacing the barrel. You can only have POF rebarrel it and you have to send in the upper.
So if you wanted to replace it yourself or swap it for Bartlin or proof barel like I wanted to, you are out of luck.

Just check any cross compatibility. From what I have seen POF is very proprietary in barrel extension and BCG areas. If that is not a concern, go for it.

Yeah the barrel thing kind of turned me a off them a little. I am sure they are great guns and like I said I am very intrigued by the concept of the smaller platform plus I am in AZ and I really like to support local manufactures but I actually just ended up going the traditional route. Pickup of a full size M5 Aero upper/lower, BSF barrel, Superlative adj. gas block, JP FMOS bolt carrier, Velocity trigger. Just got it up and running 2 days ago first trip to the range yesterday, runs great!

I really enjoy tinkering and knowing myself I don't know if I want to be locked into the POF barrel/BCG. There are just so many more options for caliber changes on a standards ar10 platform. For now ill play around with 6.5 and see how I like it on a gas gun.

Little late to the party as OP already made his choice but just wanted to say I really like my Revolution 18" .308. No experience with the 6.5cm models but my .308 is capable of 1moa with multiple different loads of budget oriented "match" ammo. I like it enough that I wouldn't even consider a traditional large frame AR10 unless it was going to be strictly shot from a fixed position. IMO the Revolution can do everything a traditional AR10 could do plus a whole lot more.

I just had my POF rogue re-barreled to a 18 inch 6.5 Creedmoor arron and Gabe over at Mostek knocked it out of the park. It shoots the cheaper Fiocchi sub MOA all day long. I went with a SA gas block.

I am currently trying to find a 15 inch hand guard that’s going to be compatible with it if anybody has any pointers

Good to hear, did they reuse your original barrels extension or was it a completely new barrel?

As for handguards I’m running a Geissle but I did have to file down the locking tabs to fit around the receiver.
