Who uses deer automatic deer feeders. I have access to 55 gallon plastic drums and looking to mount a thrower on the bottom. Whats a good unit without being to exspensive. Just home use and will suspend from a tree and squirrel proof it

Squirrels will eat through a plastic barrel. They chewed the plastic funnel off of my broadcast feeder. That allowed the whole barrel to run out on the ground. If it isn’t metal, it is not even squirrel resistant.

I made some of these over ten years ago and they still are in fine shape. I used 4in PVC but you could use 6in if you wished. Couple cheap straps and find a tree. I think mine for five and half feet long.

Another plus one on mangy things eating through plastic. The metal one I have has been sitting for 6-7 years now, and nothing has eaten it

I don't have pics, but mine is a bump feeder made from a 60 gallon plastic drum mounted on a 6' tall homemade steel tripod with one leg being a ladder. I installed a galvanized funnel inside. Then built a gravity flow molasses dispenser out of 2" PVC, with a cross about a foot down that has 2 arms supported in 3" caps on each side & threaded plug on top. The bottom is completely guarded with hardware cloth. When they lick the bottom of the pipe, corn falls out! What I can't fit from 6 bags of corn gets scattered around it & it holds about 2.5 gallons of molasses. The land owner behind me plants plots and has a feeder, but in conjunction with my mineral lick, I draw them onto my land!

Hell yeah nice. I am sure i can gather all material to make mine out of metal off my jobsites. That would be awesome idea as any gravity feeder for my hunting property. I am looking a timed caster at the house so they are on my schedule lol.

I will have to look into the CWD issue but I know people have feeders out for them. They are called their pets. I just want them to not munch on my garden. No feeders or bait piles on public land may have to look at private owned land. If it is i will have pets as well.
No feeding from September 1 till January hunting season here. Can feed after that its frowned apon but not illegal. I know many who feed all year to watch them. Food plots allowed so is a garden a food plot then hhhhhhmmmmm loophole maybe. Ditch the feeder grow extra veggies in the yard. Plant turnips, colladers, kale, cabbage, broccoli for fall and winter crops/food plot.
