Sidearms & Scatterguns O/U for sporting clays

I shoot Trap twice a week with competitive former shooters.
They are a great help with learning.
Find a nice club that’s not posh and expensive.
Nothing wrong with starting with a Remington 870 Trap Grade TB or TC.
Cheaper o/u’s won’t stand up to the volume and break.
Save your money until whether you decide what you like, Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays or whatever.
Then purchase a competition shotgun.
Kolar, made in America about 20 minutes from where I live.

The good thing abt the K guns is if you buy a bone stock used K80, you can get in them close to 10k, i know that’s a lot of money but you can shoot it for a long time and get your money back or maybe even make a little bit. I have had and currently have a Parcours and love them. I shot my last one for 4 years and sold it for more than I paid. That being sad, I agree with the beretta 686 sporting with 32” barrels, they are nice shotguns for the money.

I have a Rizzini BR110 Sporter. I looked at a lot of shotguns and for the money I am very happy with it. I use it for sporting clays mostly. It just had the right feel for me and was around what I wanted to spend. There were some shotguns I liked more of course but were way more expensive.

If anyone is ever in Houston and likes shotguns go to Gordy and Sons. Unbelievable collection of high end shotguns up to $500,000.

Just started reading this thread. Always wanted an O/U.

I'm a bit surprised no love for FABARM here. I've at least read some pretty good things about them - such as the Orvis Elos edition. I probably should have jumped on one of those before 2020 when they were still under 2K (as I recall).

They dont hold their value, they dont have a long track record with a good US importer/rep and getting parts can be hard.

A used Beretta is almost always the best choice for a first/starter O/U.
This, I just checked on line and my first was a Beretta 682X (1985 build) going for 1550, I bought mine new in 1985 for 1650 (A lot for dumb entry level Engineer back then).
