Seems like everybody has suddenly got sporty.

I’m guessing the behind the scenes phone calls telling people to go nuts is working.

The last thing we need is an unstable South Korea with the north breathing down their neck. This guy is out of his fucking mind to declare martial law.

Yes, they have issues in the south but this will cause massive unrest.

It’s like they’re trying to provoke World War III. Oh wait, never mind.

And in the meantime, the ex French colony has entered civil war aided by outside forces… forgot which. They are mostly shitholes.

Everyone is going game in while the US is in hiding and Biden is busy brushing his toenails and clipping his teeth.

Usually when someone decides to "Declare Martial Law" that usually means they aren't the good guys.
When they get tired of having to deal with the laws of the land and the constitution and just decide hey let's toss it all out and have rule by the barrel of guns and compliant uniform hangers, it usually pretty much means they lost credibility completely.

Last military coup in SK was 1987.... and was a very sporty time. Kim Il Sung was dying.... Kim Jong Il was thought to be wanting to leave his mark... and Sung was perhaps unstable enough to launch an Invasion South for reunification before he died.

It was very, very dangerous. I think only the fact that Reagan was considered willing to nuke NK into the stone age was holding them back. And probably the ChiComs and Soviets were saying 'Cut that shit out... we are trying to glasnost here.'

This is a bad, bad thing. He'es not doing it because of 'communists.' He is doing it because he has an opposition legislature and he wants his way. Sending troops into parliament is just the sort of trigger that might make Rocket Man think 'now is the moment.'

They are setting Trump up to take over an even bigger dumpster fire, methinks. Spoiled little tantrum Obama and Soros would rather turn the world into a smoking ruin vs. not have their globalist socialist green paradise. They figure they will rule over the ashes and rebuild Gaia from their bunkers. It's not going to work out that way, but they went to Harvard, most of them, so they are smarter than us.

Its the new 'democracy' standard , whenever elections dont go your way declare them illegitimate, any laws Soros NGO's dont like are start with Molotov cocktails and then decry use of water canon on peaceful protestors, here we have domestic power struggle with government reaching for martial law and pretending its Norks that are causing them problems, in any other time you would be rounding them up locking them up and throwing away the keys , now not so much as it seems its just a new normal.

''Kim is willing to send a peacekeeping force to South Korea to stabilize the situation.''

Taiwan and South Korea have the two most advanced chip factories in the world. Arizona is coming online with good production and the second production facility is being built. South Korea is one of the biggest ship builders in the world. Chi Comms want to destabilize chip production and ship building. Destabilizing South Korea is a win-win for them.

Agree... but in this case, I don't think the 'real' opposition to him is Communists. He is just pissy because he has an opposition legislature.

He is conservative... but not in a good way. More like a hawk. And batshit crazy. Looks like the people and the legislature may send him packing. Which may not be a bad thing. He is unstable.

Don't need two unstable crazies on that peninsula. Three if you include Un's sister. She is batshit crazier than both of them put together.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Matthew 24:6-13

New International Version

6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

And while we’re at it…

Matthew 10:28

New International Version

28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Any one knowledgeable on Sk politics. I know fuck all about it but reading today the presidents party lost control of their parliament, the party that now has majority in the parliament shot down everything he was trying to do to include budget proposals for defense. Side note, presidents wife is accused of insider trading. So president tried a power play because he was tired of the oppositions push back.

Right, Wrong? What’s the scoop? Who’s who in this.

Noting particularly new for South korea

The president of South Korea expected an impeachment from the opposition.
To prevent that, he declared martial law banning all political activity!
The Korean army came and closed off the parliament to prevent MPs to come in and vote!
Korean MPs climbed over the fence and made their way to the parliament, breaching the block!
The special forces tried to storm the parliament, to stop the “political activity”
The parliament was as able to vote, and they voted unanimously to lift the martial law and lift all restrictions!
The army sensed how the wind was blowing, decided to abide by the parliaments decision and left!
Martial law will remain in place in South Korea until the president issues a decree to lift it.
The president is constitutionally obliged to lift martial law after a decision by parliament.

The South Korean president is expected to be arrested and impeached, according to media reports.

It seems running for president in South Korea equals running for a prison sentence

If only they had a system for presidential pardons on the books!? Loosers !!

Otherwise Worst Korea has long and proud tradition of coups that rivals South America. Looks like since end of cold war every Korean president ended serving jail time !
1. Lee Seungman (1948-1960) - deposed
2. Yoon Bosong (1960-1962) - overthrown.
3. Park Chonhee (1962-1979) - assassinated.
4. Choi Gyu Ha (1979-1980) - ousted by military coup.
5. Jeong Doo-hwan (1981-1988) - sentenced to death after completing his presidential term.
6. Roh Dae-woo (1988-1993) - sentenced to 22 years in prison after completing his presidential term.
7. Kim Young-sam (1993-1998) - Sat in prison until his presidential term. As president, secured the conviction of his two predecessors.
8. Kim Daejung (1998-2003) - Sat in prison and was sentenced to death before becoming president (later pardoned). Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.
9. Roh Moohyun (2003-2008) - Impeached (overturned by the Constitutional Court). After the end of his presidential term, was investigated on corruption charges. He committed suicide
10. Lee Myung-bak (2008-2013) - After the end of the presidential term, arrested and under arrest on corruption charges.
11. Park Geun-hye (2013 -2016) - impeached. Arrested on corruption charges. 24 years in prison.

I continue to be happy about our election, but have to check myself as there are X number days till it it's all locked in. A lot of time still for all kinds of chit to happen.
Here, there & everywhere.

see this kind of thing a lot, everywhere, over all times. israel, vietnam, nicaragua,so. africa, argentina, iran, cuba. a lot of protest movements against illegitimate gov abuses often get co-opted by commies. makes the real very hard to keep straight.

Apparently all of this started when the "Democratic Party" of the ROK, who are their version of our leftists, was found to harbor very close ties to North Korea and wanted to work towards unification with the northern Communist regime intact, and more clandestinely, give assets and intel from the ROK to the North, and the current president, who leads the conservative right wing Peoples' Party, decided that enough was enough and wanted to clean house and put all of the ringleaders into prison cells.

Yo, the entire fucking world has gotten soft. That is all that there is to be said. The ROK government of the 1960s would not even have made this into a global circus. As soon as they found that Nork simps were in the ranks, the problem would have been taken care of overnight, along with leftist student organizations bagged up and trucked away as side quests. The Military Intelligence division of the ROK army and security forces during that time had a unique way of dealing with communist infiltrators. They cut off their dicks and fed them to them. The old hardline ROK was almost identical to the Chicoms when it came to taking care of business, the only difference being that they were adherents to different global spheres of power.

More, on par with China. The ROK maintains a hardline conservative front, but is also the nexus of some of the largest organized crime rings in Asia, and these organizations are almost always left alone by the government as long as they give them a fair cut into business, whether it be prostitution, drugs, or weapons going abroad to Chinese or Indonesian gangs. Unlike Ukraine, no child trafficking though because Confucian moral code absolutely shows no mercy to that kind of thing, and that is why the ROK government allows them to function as well. The mob and their different regional charters are ruthless enforcers against pedophilia and communists, most especially those pesky leftist student organizations on college campuses. Whenever those college commies get brazen enough to hold rallies or protests, they almost always end with cars with tinted windows pulling up, gangs of tough men wearing sunglasses getting out of them and viciously beating the shit out of the student agitators with axe handles and steel pipes and sending a whole bunch to the hospital. Fatalities happen too. The government does not even need to get involved in these things because the mob takes care of it with ruthless efficiency. Even when local bureaucracy gets into a dispute with let's say, companies that have skimped on taxes or tried to lowball the government in any way, the officials would hire mob guys to collect what they are due and they always get their collections.

Didn’t they just since 2020 or something oust or bring to sunlight a government level litteral cult that was tied to trafficking and many other weird high crimes? I distinctly remember that.

Government = corruption.

It's where people who are poor and have no skills go to get rich by taking advantage of those who have skills.

There are makers and takers. Gummint is the taker. When you are already stealing from the population, stealing more for your own devices is an easy jump.

Hey, I am not against government or taxes. But at a certain point, it becomes an armed gang stealing everything from those who work for their money. And then they should be dissolved and punished...

But you have to give props to MPs that scaled a fence and broke past military cordon to vote , imagine US geriatric politicans that needed help to stand up after a photo op , and the younger ones that shat their pants on Jan6 while not even being in the same building
