I reckon so. Haven’t owned any MR bags, but always heard good things. I did just see that yeti “collaborated” with MR on a bag recently. Also, announcement below.
Are they killing it, or just rebranding it under the Yetti name?

lol. I guess Dana cashed out again. I worked in the outdoor industry back in the day and had quite a few Dana Designs packs (still have a couple but can't say that I'd actually use them again, they are crazy heavy compared to todays packs (terraplane, Astralplane, Bomb, etc.). Met him a few times at the OR show and at our local outfitter when I was working there in college. Saw MR at the SHOT show a few years, always liked the packs but never got around to buying one.
I can say for sure though that I would never buy a Yeti backpack regardless of who made it or designed it.

One Chinese overpriced shit brand buys another overpriced Chinese shit brand ( with exception of berry amendment / buy America act stuff).

I don’t care what yeti does with mystery ranch. MR gets what they deserve for selling out to those fags at yeti. My son owns an older mystery ranch and it’s a legit pack. They made some top notch fire line packs as well, but I won’t support them now. As kind of a pack junkie I highly suggest exo mountain gear. They are designed and made in Boise. I’ve owned a couple and they are amazing packs. The newest ones are supposedly even better, but I don’t have $700 to drop on ANOTHER pack. Eberlestock is decent too. Also made in Boise.
Small business founders often grow a innovative business then sell as an exit plan and begin another. Not a bad thing, it's how capitalism is supposed to work. Kifaru is mentioned as fantastic gear, which it is, but remember that Patrick Smith first started Mountainsmith. Those were good packs, then he sold to a big corporation that made cheap crap. He got rich, started Kifaru.
Most eberlestock stuff is actually made in Vietnam except for the few berry compliant items they still have.

I for one appreciate this thread as were it not for the Hide, I would have missed this news. I suppose I'll withhold making any judgements though until we see how things play out. I'm hoping for the best either way.

Don’t laugh too hard, but I hunted elk one season with one of those. Thank God I didn’t shoot one, cause I don’t think the pack would have been much help
This seems to be the story with gear. Make a great product and develop a loyal clientele than sellout to a conglomerate with the quality going to shit. Can't count how many times I have seen this happen. Picked up a US made 2DA pack several years ago and a great pack and should last me for quite awhile.
