Hate to ask but need purchase advice…

If I were buying I would want the quick change barrel version, itll have a hole for a screw inside pointed out here.
And if it has the small firing pin that would be nice too.

From the serial number, it is a 2022 then?

No. Year of production is the 2 digits before the AT in the serial number (19 AT XXXXX would be 2019 production for example.)

2015 production and later should be small firing pin, but it's good to verify. 2014 and earlier were 2mm (large) firing pin, which may or may not be an issue depending what you plan to shoot out of it. It's not the end of the world, but getting a 15 or later with the small firing pin will prevent any possible primer issues in the future and save you the money from either having to bush the 2mm large firing pin or buying a new 1.6mm small firing pin bolt body and firing pin should you have issues with primer cratering or piercing, usually with small primer cases.

I tagged one above. Zero affiliation with the seller. Looks like a member who posted on that thread may be able to vouch for them. Just be careful of scammers contacting you for payment

The rifle you had I can’t see a serial number on (at least the prior to AT portion which is the year as noted above) but if it was new and recently purchased it would have small firing pin.

The rifle I tagged above appears to be a 2015. I think from just trying to zoom in. It would have the SFP if it is

It also had a NV bridge and thumbhole stock. Which make it like alpha bracket 😎

If you have other questions or want to learn more about the AI’s this is the thread to follow

I have a couple AT’s and they’re well worth it!!

The one you had above also likely has a Lother Walther 308 barrel on it. The bottom one in this pic wears the same barrel

Thanks. The number of rounds gives me pause; went through a barrel and then another 1500 IIRC?

That's how I read it.

Either way, it looks like it's in excellent condition - doesn't even look like it's marked up at the rear of the action where ejected brass would typically ding it up a bit. I wouldn't be overly concerned with that round count, that is small potatoes compared to some of them around here still going strong. It could have been pulled early and sold, also.

If you're really concerned, it looks like the original (or previous) owner replied in post #2, so you could ask him for additional details if you felt so inclined.

I think Jacob Bynum has 250,000+ rounds on his AW by now

Don’t worry about round count.

Barrels are like tires. You wear them out then you change them. AI barrels you can pick up here in the px or mile high/euro or have someone like black canyon or Manzella spin you whatever you want up.

Some guys run 15-20k a year on actions

Personally,

If I’m buying something like that I’d work out a price for the gun with just the 308 barrel. Or no barrel at all if I want to get something other than what’s offered. Shoot them a offer for what you want and if they want to sit on it for a bit then at least you have your name in

AT’s were discontinued. They’ve gone up in price since then. I paid $3k for the one on the bottom above. I wouldn’t sell it for less than $4k in same condition today
