I’m looking to get a barrel spun up for a 223 tac division build to complement my 308 and figured I’d give either Criterion or Preferred a chance since they are a lower price option to play around with. So I guess my question is which one would you go with, I know criterion has a pretty solid reputation.

I've been plenty happy with accuracy of criterions in 6br, 6creed, 243, and 243ai. They always ran fast for charge/bullet and shot very well. With criterion making shouldered prefits for origin/solus, it's a no brainer for a sub 400.00 barrel that runs with 600-700.00 prefits.

I’ll have to contact James and see what he’s offering for reamers to see if he’s got something that would fit the bill.

Northland offers a M118lr chamber which worked well for me with 175 SMK, 168 Hybrids, and 168 ELDs. It would probably work well with any bullet with a tangent or hybrid ogive in the Tac legal weight range.

I realized I never said it was going to be a 223, but it’s cool to know they offer a M118LR chamber incase I want an other 308 barrel.

From northland, get the wylde with .062 freebore at a minimum. If it’ll be 75+ with no considerations to the 55-69s then get the match .090 freebore chambering.
That’s assuming you are feeding via aics matter mags.

It would pretty much be on a strict diet of 75+ and be feed from aics mags, maybe 69s on yotes but that would be few and far between.
