Cop riding wheelies during parade crashes into crowd

I will probably be the "odd man out" but I think the Chief of Police is spot on, if he follows up with his promises. FWIW, back when I was a Chief Instructor for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, I used to train motorcycle officers how to maneuver full dress big bikes in tight turns, etc. To execute the turn in those tight quarters the officer had to let the bike "drop" then power out so the gyroscopic force of the wheels would upright the machine. He had no business doing that in a parade environment, and he messed the maneuver up to the extreme. Heads should, roll and the lawsuits that are sure to transpire will cost the taxpayers dearly.

There's a difference between a Harley Davidson with a low center of gravity and a Kawasaki or the BMW when doing those maneuvers.
Sounds like he won't be doing them anymore and probably won't be back in the department since they are trying to save his hand.
I have a feeling that issue will have an effect on the outcome of the "investigation". If he loses the use of his hand and can't play Po Po no more. They will find some other cause and he'll get a disability retirement.

I have well over 150k lifetime miles in the saddle and that story is crap. The audio of his motor, is telling on him.

If it were you or I, there would be a tox-screen and major moving violations. That BS story wouldn’t have even made it out of the proverbial gate.

Not to mention being sued and losing insurance making it damn hard to get any for any vehicle. That will just fall on the taxpayers instead.

He’s human and a guy with a powerful machine. We all screw up. It’s the double standard that gets me. I don’t see how this screw up was “in the line of duty” Had he been chasing a suspect, or racing to save a life, I take a different stand on this. The lies don’t hold water either way.

Everybody participating in that including the supervisor who authorized it should be shit-canned or put on foot patrol.

I've seen a few stunt/drill teams and they put in a lot of hours practicing. Seems like many of them were from police departments. If these were just the regular motorcycle cops and were showing off they should all spend time at a desk with some paperwork added to their records. Dude that screwed up should sent packing with the liabilities on him and not the taxpayers.
In the first story I read the Chief said that they were only there for escorts and traffic control type stuff. I'll see if I can find it again.

Edit: seems like the media may have edited his statements. What I find now is that he said that they were there for crowd control and some demonstration.
Crowd control doesn't add up to what the video shows. Which makes me think that these were just regular motor cops doing shit that they shouldn't have been doing
