Let's see how well this ages.

The inhabitants of the Silo are under the impression that they are in a post war safe haven. They live there after 'the rebellion' was defeated, and in the process, Earth was basically made un-livable due to said conflict. Initially the storyline wants you to focus on other things...but...I'm calling it now:

    - Silo is actually a self sustaining 'prison' colony
    - Conflict / earth all fucked up is bullshit and a total lie
    - Earth is habitable
    - Silo inhabitants are actually the losers of the conflict
    - Winners are topside - OR - even more diabolical, the Silo is 1 of 1000s and its a way for the rich to basically make all of the consumers/poors live in a giant hole in the ground and not have to deal with them

I have seen all the episodes, You can’t underestimate the power of brainwashing and making people see and do whatever is needed of them to be good little boys and girls.

you know this is based on the “Wool” series of books that have been out 10+ years, right?

edit: 100% spoiler alert if you read the plot at the link nelow.

I am looking forward to starting the show if it doesn't spend too much time pushing agendas like the rest of media. The book is excellent. You have some good ideas but will likely be surprised by how many times your guesses change.

Episode? Fuck that...read the books. Which, by the by, I don't think were called the "Silo" series when they were first published.

Don't give me any spoilers please!

I stumbled across the show yesterday. Like 30 mins in, I was like....I already know how this goes. I've done this for multiple movies and series' and have been extremely close to the point people don't want to watch shows with me around lol

I think I've been pretty damn close/dead on so far. However.......thinking initially that a scene actually showing anyone going outside wouldn't come until at least mid way through the season...and it came in episode 1 and episode 2....has me thinking either A. Im still right and theyre just going to milk this with a twist or B. its going to turn into something totally different kind of like how that one Sicario movie started with muslim terrorists at the border and then......you just never heard about it ever again.

So a few things (again, all total guesses as the show does make you think a bit if you read between the lines):

    - They are obviously in the future due to 'relics' like the Pez dispenser, so that rules out the whole Battlestar Galactica thing where they are actually in the distant past and are somehow really who we thought were fucking caveman or whatever.

    - 'They deleted our data plan!1!!1!' is a very appropriate plot device for 2023.

    - Even level 500000 nuclear fallout wouldn't kill you as fast as anyone who goes to 'clean', while wearing an enclosed bio suit, dies. I am calling shenanigans.

    - When you watch the screen when the sheriff goes out, you can see the wife's body on the 'dirty' image but not anywhere through his eyes when hes looking right at it, or walking right next to it when they show the non filtered environment. Did CGI just fuck that detail up....or?

    - This better not be some M. Night Shamalayadingdong 'the plants get angry and kill us' bullshit. I swear to God.

    - The fact that the 'leadership' is hiding shit is so thin, its obvious. I don't even think keeping the secret going is a plot device since its so week. The only (boring) angle they could take with that is showing how fucking retarded sheeple can be even when they have the fucking truth smack them in the face. it almost makes me think that already reaching that point by Ep2, that this series just totally takes a fucking left turn somewhere.

    - I thought that when the sheriff took his helmet off he was going to magically survive as the air they gave him to breathe was actually what would kill you. I'm still suspecting its something in the tank (i.e. if you left without breathing it youd live) or something in the weird cleaning cloth lol

    - Leadership is basically oblivious to anything. It's the Gestapo 'judicial' people who are somehow linked to the outsiders making sure you peasants stay in the silo under either fear or force.

    - I'm getting weird Matrix vibes in that the Silo people are there for a direct benefit like....we need all of your poop to fertilize our rich people food or to power our Teslas or something.

    - Where does all of the poop go?

Poop goes where the dead bodies go. Agriculture levels of the silo....

I think of our planet as a silo. If that makes sense.

Hopefully the show gives the books some respect, as they're worth reading.

I need to find someone with that streaming service!!

Episode 3 was semi filler which was a little disappointing. It wasn't all filler as it was building the plot, which is turning out to be kind of meh as they're really slowing it down.

On a side note, I love how a lot of shows, including this one, put a lot of stock into people 'loving their leaders'. In this show for example, the mayor is going on about how the people need her to be out and about with them for reassurance and whatever. Like, this 80 year old women wandering around is going to make me feel better about whatever. Yeah...no. I don't even know the name of the mayor of the fucking town I live in because they don't fucking matter.

Anyways. Few new 'look what we found' things, which, ok, let's see where that goes. Also, we are totally at one point turning the earth digging contraption back on incase that wasn't fucking obvious.

    More thoughts and observations:

    - Silo people are still, definitely being kept inside as opposed to keeping the outside, out.

    - Somehow whoever dreamed the Silo up thought that 1 generator for the entire thing was totally GTG. LOL. Also....where does the steam and water come from that if it went away we'd all just die? No one knows!

    - I'm still at my original guess of, outside is fine, its the air tank they give you that kills you.

    - I hope this doesn't turn into Sheriff Mary Sue

    - Silo people are total bitches that literally all had a nervous breakdown when the lights were going to be shut off, overnight, so they could work on the generator. This is how I imagine liberals react to mundane, basic issues.

Sounds very Snowpiercer to me. I like it and should watch Silo soon to see if your theory tracks!

The Time Machine (the originial) was kind of the opposite... Raise the Eloi so the Morlochs have something tasty and fresh to eat...

Seems TheGerman has been MIA for a while now.

Did @TheGerman find his own "silo" to live in? Sad that he's no longer posting his wit and wisdom here in the "pit"...

Holy crap, no joke! I’ve been in and out of things myself, but he was last seen almost 15 months ago! Hope the dude is alright…

Based on the descriptions, above (below?), this seems pretty derivative. “Fallout” and the one about the Space Ship, that was actually in a silo, simulating a Century Ship, already did much of this. Finding out it was all an experiment, or some other sub-plot isn’t very original or creative. Plot weaknesses that stem from unimaginative writers (one generator?), inspire me to take a hard pass. (Eloi and Morlocks?). I might give the books a read.
